Can’t believe I missed this one, especially being Scottish and had this every week in the winter as a kid. Still make it today but without the meat. Use some red lentils and extra leeks

@@BIGOGGIEWORLD haven’t really eaten red meat for over 40 years, had the odd lapse here and there but generally stay clear. Bit of chicken and fish every so often

Not sure about the cabbage, I think traditionally it's supposed to be roots.

I have researched a number of recipes and many of them include cabbage including me one from a website called Scottish scan. I think as a traditional family recipe there are many variations. What I will say is that’s it’s a really tasty dish and if you wish to alter it here and there and there that’s fine too.
