Excellent Video! The Police should do more of these as part of an instruction to the public. Good work guys!

My dad drove transport truck for 43 years, I've been driving truck for 3 and a half. I was taught to move over for EVERYONE. "Car on the shoulder? Move over". And don't think I won't cut someone off to give that operator some safe space.
@bigjoel35994 жыл бұрын
@Lone Wolf it's not the notion that he's comfortable with doing so because he wants to it's the notion that it's something that he basically got to do because of people who can not wait 5 mins being stuck behind a semi that moved over to safely pass a vehicle on the shoulder. Truckers can see things well in advance of smaller vehicles but unfortunately cars play the game of rushing up on a semi that possibly needs to move over or if it does move over they jump to the right lane to get around not knowing the reason why the semi moved over

Drew Bunn I will do the same thing but at times I will move over and straddle the line not only to protect the vehicle on the shoulder but also protect myself and savemty spot or if in the left lane I start moving back to the right just as I come up to vehicle on the shoulder

I agree with everything they've said. In every crash either involving a train , ship, plane or truck there is always multiple possiblities as to what happened but the main thing is always human error. Like Kerry said the law is not hard to understand. When you see any kind of emergency vehicle from the most dangerous like police or fire to less dangerous like towing with their lights flashing you're supposed to do 3 things. Slow down and wait for the emergency vehicle to pass, move into another lane if you have room or stop and be patient until the emergency vehicle either leaves or clears traffic. When I watch these shows like highway thru hell and heavy rescue 401 it just surprises me how little people care about the laws of traffic and how less they respect or appreciate the first responders that are out here day in and day out to keep the roads safe. How they constantly have to watch their backs while trying to focus on the job at hand. I wonder if Kerry ever had an experience out on those roads. Another funny thing is how when the weather turns from nice to ugly people still drive as if they can make it through and end up in a nasty collision. What amazes me more than people breaking the law trying to get to where they want to go is how these crashes appear once they've happened and the drivers still walk away with minor or no injuries at all. These trucks must be well built. But the law doesn't just apply to 1st responder vehicles. There's also buses on their way to school. When you see a school stopped on the side of the road with the stop sign out and it's own lights flashing you're supposed to stop because their either picking up a kid or dropping them off and they may live across from where the bus has stopped. The law is very specific, it's not rocket science. I applaud them for going out there despite of those who disrespect their flashing lights as if they have the right away. Putting their own lives on the line just to get home to their families in the end.

In some states, state troopers have their patrol car a bit in the lane which forces clowns to move over, Ontario needs to try that.
@Promissed_3 жыл бұрын
Its a good idea but if someone isnt paying attention the risk of a collision with the officer is bigger so thats why I think Ontario dosent do that

Normally On streets they do just that On these highways i have not seen it. Picture a semi doing 55mph And changes lane at the last sec And the car behind him sees the police car But has that moment when he cant merge Then slams on the brakes Which most people know You can steer Or you can brake But its hard to do both..Add in Canadian winters ..And yes most do slow down in winter But with all the factors Having a cruiser half in a lane is a death trap

Move over for safety it’s the law, moving over will help police fire ems etc help others if they have a safe clear path for their investigation.

this is why some countries in europe are equipping their emergency and tow vehicles with a pole style led light that you raise while at the side and its very bright old style blue n red so people from quit a ways back will see it and slow the hell down, they use them on the I-5 and claim it has made a huge difference, maybe it should be done everywhere, especially if it saves emergency officers and tow truck drivers lives right.

Everyone is in such a rush to go nowhere, if you hit someone because you wouldn't move over, then you will definitely be going nowhere. So, slow down and move over, it's not hard.

I agree with you that today's driving public just aren't paying attention to there driving or what's around them! What a dirty rotten shame it's like people don't care because it's only about them!

Why not getting a high visibility radar truck attends some of those scene. I'm pretty sure that the publicity this would cause on a program like this would have a very large impact on the driving public if it showed the amount of resulting fines imposed.

Some could care less...most are in a big hurry to get up the road..I hate driving on the highways, the whole time im on pins and needles. Ive watched waaay to many accident videos on You Tube.

You know I have saved d this time in and time out. The law that states "Move over and slow down" should affect everyone on the freeways, but no one cares anymore. Even when there are vehicles with either amber lights or red lights going on there vehicles on the side of the road no one and I will repeat it no one will move over even though it is a LAW TO DO SO.
@jeffms23 жыл бұрын
sometimes you cant get over, especially on the 401
@tom0photographi3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like an excuse! If you were paying attention to what’s down the road you shouldn’t have a problem. Not too many blind corners on the 400 series highways!

Sorry guys, you can do all the educating you want... people just don't care. That's the bottom line. The stuff my dashcam records when I'm out is pretty pathetic. That includes flying by emergency vehicles, pulling out right in front of oncoming traffic, dangerous u-turns in the dumbest places, and of course we can't forget.. stop signs and red lights.. it's as if some of these idiots think it's only a suggestion.

So sad people can't respect the rules. Hopeful the towing shows are helping some Maybe it should be required to watch the near misses that happen because people's selfishness, as part of getting licenses. Make people realize the dangers of speed and stupidity.

There is a fast lane for a reason in the left people in the far right shouldn’t be going fast in the first place i mean it is a simple law that really shouldn’t be hard to follow some people have no common sense that what it is
