‘Slow Horses’: Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden on Accessing Their Characters

Gary Oldman is one of the most celebrated actors of his generation, portraying everyone from the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. His co-star Jack Lowden is one to watch, having delivered star turns on the BBC miniseries “War & Peace” and the film “Mary Queen of Scots.” The two lead ‪@AppleTV‬'s #SlowHorses series with Oldman as Jackson Lamb, a cynical MI5 agent, and Lowden as his underestimated subordinate, River Cartwright. The pair sit down with Backstage to discuss getting into character, committing to a long-running show, and more.

I LOVE Slow Horses. Oldman brought me to it (because I'll watch everything he does) but Lowden is very compelling too! I'm drawn to everything he does as well now!

Best thing on TV at the moment by a mile. Somehow weird hearing Jack speak in his own Scots accent, even though I vaguely already knew he is. Saskia Reeves is also brilliant in this, as well as the relationship between her and Lamb. And her back-story is fascinating.
