Slow Living Silent Vlog | English Life in Lockdown | Simple Morning UK | Cottagecore
We find ourselves in lockdown again, to protect our NHS and those at risk from this horrid Covid. It's a time of great stress, so we need to make sure we incorporate slow living and and aim for a simple life, which will help us to focus, and stay on track of our emotions and stress.
I hope my calming videos will help you to switch off from the hussle and bussle or maybe even guide you to taking steps to simplify your life and rid yourself of the unwanted stress.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful calming video, with a little English countryside
added to the mix. This is my simple (late) morning with 'eggs and soldiers' - nostalgia on a plate...
Also learn of the beautiful village of Eyam...and how it has has shaped our lockdowns today.
Thanks for watching this video, I hope you enjoyed it and that maybe it resonated with you!

I’ve been to Eyam several times. We often had school trips there because it was fairly near-by and didn’t take too long to get there. Even as small children we realised what a big deal it was for the villagers to isolate themselves knowing what would happen, they were so brave. We usually had to write about William Mompesson when we got back to school. He was the vicar in Eyam at that time and he sent his wife and children away, to try to save them, but his wife came back to support him and died. When I hear people now moaning that the hairdressers and nail bars are closed and starting every sentence with “It’s not fair” I really have to bite my tongue.

I am guilty of griping about missing my only grandchild's first birthday and not being able to hug and kiss her. That was such a poignant story and one I needed to hear. It could be so much worse. I know she is loved, eating healthy food and cared for by her loving, doting parents. For now that has to be enough and I am grateful. Thank you for the reminder. Peace and good health to you and yours.

Eggs and soldiers...definitely nostalgia on a plate! Currently isolating as I await the result of a COVID test, think I know what will be on the breakfast menu tomorrow and I bet it’ll feel like a warm hug. I remember many years ago watching a tv drama about Eyam called “The Roses of Eyam”, and finding the entire story fascinating but so very sad. Never could have imagined that in this day and age we would find ourselves where we are but as you so rightly point out, so many of us are still so very lucky to be in our situation, rather than that of others. Stay safe, people.

I am reading this book as we speak!! It has been a real eye opener, I’m in Wales we have been on lockdown since before Christmas now, my partner and myself run a rural small holding with a few animals which have kept us busy, many are not so lucky and some need to read the Eyham story. Truly Heartbreaking. Thankyou for reminding us all xx

@@ApronfulofStones Have you heard of a children's series called The Borrowers? I can't remember the author's name but they are wonderful books which I read as a child. It's about little people who live in the wainscotting in a house in England. They use spools for tables and thimbles for cups, etc. Arietti (mispelled) is the heroine, the young daughter of her mother and her father (Pod) who think she takes too many risks. Their entire lives are supposed to be a secret from the humans. She gets seen and makes friends with the human boy of the house, but the grown-ups find out and get a cat after them. Then they have to run for their lives, and this goes into the next book, The Borrowers Afield or The Borrowers Afloat. She meets a Borrower boy, Spinner, and they have adventures. Your little girls would love this series, I'm sure!

I am not an artist by any means but when I got my first set of watercolor pencils my life changed! I was able to shade and soften colors like never before. When I get into my doodling and coloring the noisy chatter that is my mind in overdrive slows down. I relax and am a better person for those whom I love and care for. These quiet moments we are able to embrace through some sort of creative activity have far reaching, positive influence. Not just for ourselves, but for those around us. I'm thankful for the creative spirit within us all, and I'm blessed to be able to embrace it. Thank you for the story of the Hancockes and the little village. History is so vital to living in the present with thankfulness and humbleness.

This is a very beautiful video soooo gentle and profound we need to be reminded of what painfully and devastating experiences people have gone through in history and now, so we can stop complaining about our lives and instead express gratitude that most of us can quarantine in our comfortable homes with basically everything we need food, shelter, tv’s and computers etc.. it is essential that we give thanks every day for what we have and show empathy and kindness to all living entities around us.. thank you for this beautiful touching video 😌🙏❤️

Thank you for this. I stumbled upon it just before bedtime. The Title drew me in, with a smile I started the video. Surprised and happy when I saw it was from Yorkshire. My great great grandfather came from Leeds in the mid 1800’s to America, and he ended up here in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Love, Sacrifice, and Loss, and yet we soldier on... we carry with us the memories of good times past, of better days and with our hearts that still have a bit of hope, we settle in for a calm, peaceful evening. Living through a Pandemic, hoping we will be safe, and our hearts are touched when we see or read of so many who have lost their loved ones... Yes, at days end, may we stop and find comfort in the simple things we have. And yes, may we be safe. And pray for those who once again suffer loss. I was able to make my 1st voyage oversees and went through the British Isles and France and Italy. Our great niece married a young handsome wonderful young man from Stockton-on-Tees, we saved for 4 years to make the trip. So much we would still love to see. One day when we can go back, it would be to England... Well my dear neighbour from yonder, may you and yours be well and safe. I have to subscribe and share this with one of my best friends here... she was in England last year and cut a bit of their trip short as they wanted to make sure they made their flight just before your lockdown last year. Good night, sleep well. Sincerely Bernie PS: this one was for you.

Thank you so much for beautifully sharing the things that are important to you. All of it resonates with me. My husband’s and my ancestors are from England through our father’s. I, too, have been especially grateful for good coffee (and the things we need) during lockdown and quarantine.
