@@jiggingjerks that's a nice light reel. Think the only discouragement I have on it though is the line capacity. My goal was to hook it up onto a Penn Warfare rod for blackfish, striper, or bluefish with either 25 or 30lb line

Nice video which action do you prefer for fluke? And why do you call the slimwave a noodle rod?
@jiggingjerks4 жыл бұрын
I prefer fast pitch. I’m convinced it catches more fluke but I also think the really big girls are lazy and will hit a slow pitch presentation more readily than a fast jig. We call it the noodle rod because it has so much give in the upper third of the rod, like a wet noodle. Thanks for watching!
@adamcunningham68475 жыл бұрын
how do you determine which is a slow pitch from a fast pitch rod?
@jiggingjerks5 жыл бұрын
adam cunningham the action of the jig when jigging. Soft pitch will not impart the same action on the type of rapid jigging we do since the rod top is more “noodly.”
@adamcunningham68475 жыл бұрын
@@jiggingjerks is there a way to figure out which is which when looking to purchase a new rod?
@jiggingjerks5 жыл бұрын
adam cunningham yes - typically the action rating and stifffness of the rod. Jigging World now makes a Nexus 7 foot Heavy Fast rod that is perfect for fast jigging.

@@jiggingjerks thanks for the reply i had stopped fishing after an ugly divorce ad as luck would have it i wound up living next to another divorcee who also liked fishing i started on the party boat off crossbay but watching those on the boat , everyone eemed to do the slow pitching although i didnt know what the specs were on the rental rods, so ia assuming since i am considering a treat to myself a nrew rod , i am considering the st.croix mojo jig , so assuming that the fast tip is sfter tham than the Moderate fast then that would equal a slow pitch rod?

Sucks about Doc's rod. Looks like the butt end was elevated off the deck on the back side of the helm station/seat. Might be covered under warranty. I'm a fan of your videos and team members/friends and please take this constructively, the bickering takes away from enjoying the video and from watching the fishing. You sound like me and my best buddy, who also happens to be named John. We bicker like sibblings and it can wear on the patience of others. How about teaching Haley to net a fish? She's obviously got game and skills with the rod and reel; teach her the whole game! Ok, enough criticism outa my pie hole. Please keep the videos coming. I look forward to them daily! On the days I can't get out on my boat in Cape May or my skiff in Avalon, your videos really fill the void and it's like I'm right there with you all. Bravo on another killer day on the water!

Please give a correct action to slow pitch rods. You are not using it right. Using correct slow pitch jigs, not bucktail... --- JW-SBC100 with Daiwa Saltiga SK Slow Pitch Jigs SA-SK60G05 and SA-SK85G05. And, use mechanical break more often if you decide to use slow pitch jigs. I saw John Skinner tried slow pitch action but he failed so bad.... Probably, he didn't use mechanical break much. Hope to see you guys at Long Island Sound! Tight lines!
@jiggingjerks6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Admittedly we are not slow pitch experts - what do you mean by "mechanical break?"
@mylovebugcat6 жыл бұрын
mechanical brake, sorry typed wrong. I meant "tension spool knob" You need to adjust it more often. Finding the correct fall speed is key to slow pitch jigging. You need to jig like you are dying fish... Good luck!
@coolvid6 жыл бұрын
mylovebugcat ... I totally understand your way of thinking in regards to the world of true jigging, fast or slow, but we are not going for yellow tail and such, we’re fluking, practically bottom bouncing. Slow pitch rods are being used but have to understand it’s fluke. Just giving a slow presentation that’s all. Offshore guys are probably wincing since “slow pitch” used here is way different than what they know is true.
