That was a hot method of catching them deep on clear water lakes in the eighties. Guess I'll get my one ouncer's back out. Thanks for the reminder Todd.

It’s still good in those clear lakes but you can fish them way deep, 30 and 40 feet

Great detailed information and terrific on the water execution and success. I agree that with a long cast combined with deep water and an extremely slow reacting bait to the hookset that your rod recommendation is super key along with a bit wider reel choice. Looked to me like Jason's rod was a bit light. I shared the video with my crew, hoping to get you some more subscribers.

First time on your channel Todd! Good information! I have always been a fan of a heavy Hooksett and a heavier Rod to accomplish it. But sometimes it's hard to convince others that that is the way to go.

funny I do this all the time with my spinners an get special spinners that allow me to slow roll them an they usually get crushed back to back when they want that presentation. Its def very effective an can land some good size fish as well so I def agree. An especially when most people now in days when they use spinners they just straight crank them in or reeling them pretty fast an I think fish get used to that so I think slow rolling def helps in those situations.

You should talk about flooded lakes in the summer since Rayburn is so high. I’ve been ripping them pitching brush and slow rolling chatterbaits in tight lanes around the flooded brush. We wore them out twice this week practicing for rusty young tournament but today was sunny and only got 11lbs. I’ll take all the advice I can get for Rayburn right now...kinda one sided with it so high.

Before I knew what I was doing, I tied on a small booyah buzz bait with a 3 in kyteck paddle tail and just swam it back to the boat. I still use it to this day. It has such a realistic look and gets big bites. Try it sometime, and thank me later..

That super duty is a 8:3:1 ratio so it’s pretty fast but it’s very easy on a big reel like that to just reel slower. It’s different than cranking so I’d rather slow down than keep the same pace with say. 5:1 or 6:1
