I have really enjoyed getting back to this colourful `Seed Packet' quilt! I'm using all my colours of Aurifil 12 weight threads to hand stitch the rows. I have partnered with Aurifil to bring you a Thread Box with 9 of my favourite threads plus one spool of 50 weight in grey for machine and hand piecing. It is a really useful set of threads and it is for sale in my shop now
www.thelasthom...
Pop over and check it out!
On Wednesday I will be publishing my Monthly Diary over on Patreon for everyone pledging $5 and above.
/ thelasthomelyhouse
there are over 4 years of content there for you to enjoy for the price of a posh coffee or a magazine. Lots of Behind The Scenes, chats, crafts, garden, Q&As and all sorts of other things!
The music today is called 'As I Dream' from the royalty free Epidemic Sound.
Thank you for joining me here on The Lime Green Sofa! I'll pass down some ginger cake for you all to share!

Hi Kate, I watch you regularly but have never commented. Today I just had to say something. Thank you for sharing about hand quilting. I am a quilter and have always hand quilted. I am glad there are long arm quilters for those who are unable to physically quilt but it has become the norm nowadays. It makes quilting too expensive to do for some. It also has become the norm to try and get as many quilts done as possible. I love the therapeutic aspect to hand quilting...falling into a rhythm and being in that moment. I love the process of lovingly adding depth to my fabrics and bringing life to my quilt. I love being able to weave love into each and every stitch.

I love crafting and dabble in lots. I like quilting but I don't think I will ever make many in my lifetime. I'm glad to see someone hand quilt because quilting on a domestic machine is really off-putting for me except for cushions and smaller pieces. I'm delighted someone has shown me that I don't need a big tapestry set up to quilt by hand. Sometimes I think we crafters are more addicted to the gadgets than the crafts themselves, me included, but I'm promising myself to change my ways.

Kate, I just found you today. And I absolutely love you and your channel! I immediately subscribed. When I was a young girl my dad died quite suddenly and it was very hard for me. We had the sweetest neighbor down the road and the next day, she came to visit us, brought amazing chicken and noodles and goodies. And then she wrapped me up in the biggest, longest, most loving hug I've ever had in my life. That lost girl felt so loved at that moment and not so scared. I would go visit her after that and she would share her little projects with me. You remind me so much of her. I'm here, and I feel Eleanor's hugs all over again!! ❣

Good evening Kate, Oh what a wonderful thing to happen to you from Aurifil, i bet you were fair surprised at them wanting to make up a Last Homely House set of threads. I'm one of your weird followers that gets mesmerised by your gentle and calming voice, it is soft and easy on the ears (please, i don't mean to be rude and it isn't meant to be). I think i am more in your Mum's type of quilting with her more calming but i do enjoy coming to the lime green couch to see what marvels you are doing this week. I also love when John comes and shows what he has been making or whitling away at with his wood. When can we expect to see how Anna is getting on with her bonnie material? Isn't it so nice to get other people involved, especially when they are newbies to the various crafts, it must be infectious. See you back again soon. From Norah, Scotland

OOOOOH - thread AND your gorgeous quilt! That has to be one of the cheeriest quilts ever - a perfect project for winter! I JUST bought that same chalk marker from Amazon - it arrived Friday and it's perfect! I bought it because the lady at the quilt shop I go to asked me what I was using to mark my quilts and I told her tailor's chalk - apparently that's a no-no because it has wax in it - who knew? So, she sold me the clover one which is good, but then I needed something for a white background and that's when I found that lovely interchangeable one! One question - I just bought some new needles to hand quilt with and I was trying to remember what your favourite needles were - I believe they come from France? Thank you for everything Kate - I only realised how much I have learned from you over the years when I started quliting less than a month ago - and I've already made FIVE quilts (ok, they're not full size, but still...!!!). Thank you for all your wisdom. xxx

Hello Kate. Who can resist making that glorious seed packet quilt? I can't. I ordered the kit and promptly fussy cut the fabric meant for the binding. Oh well! Other than that, it's going beautifully, and once again, thanks for the enthusiasm which is so contagious!

Absolutely gorgeous quilt. I love watching you. Very peaceful. Are you quilting with doubled up thread or single layer? This reminds me of when I'm mending my well used quilts on the dining table!!! ❤️ Thank you

I could sit and watch you hand quilt all day! I enjoy hand sewing too. I am in Michigan will the thread box be available on Amazon or any other way due to the shipping problems I’ve heard about in Europe right now? Love your videos 🥰

Congratulations on the partnership with Aurifil!! Look how far you come! I remember when I found you and the Lime Green sofa was only a side chair! Love your videos and your whole crew. What a wonderful example of a family working together.

Hi Kate. Will we see the cats and Eileen the Goose again? Your quilts are beautiful, but so was your general lifestyle in the videos. It was always a joy to connect with your slightly 'chaotic' approach' to life as I could relate to this! I understand why this may now have changed, and I wish you all the luck and joy in the world, but it would be nice to know if it has changed permanently. Thank you :)

I haven't been watching as often. While I appreciate the talent with quilting, it is not an interest of mine. I agree that I miss the old Kate variety videos. I know Kate was not feeling well several months ago. I can't speculate, but hope Kate is doing well and perhaps taking a different direction with her channel. She is a lovely woman and watch occasionally.

I try to tell as many as I can about the channel. Some don't quilt but they find it very relaxing watching, destress for a while.

I'm so glad you have had good success with your endeavors over on Patreon. I have often thought of budgeting in a membership as I really miss seeing all of your garden and other content that used to be here on KZbin. I wonder about Eileen. Do you still take her down to the lake on those lovely walks?Maybe someday I will join Patreon.Thank you for at least continuing with your Sunday videos here, and with your posts on Instagram. Have a wonderful week till we see you again!
