Slow Stitching Tiny Nature Fabric Scroll

Welcome! My name is Jo. Join me in Slow Stitching a Fabric Scroll inspired by Birds, Animals and Nature. This is the first of a multi-part workshop where we create the background fabric (2 1/2 inches wide and 28 inches long), trace the animal shapes, add tiny pieces of fabric collage, and begin stitching the animals. The stitching of the Heron is covered in detail in the second half of this video. There are lots of tips and ideas for creating your own scroll. This project is perfect for recycling or repurposing clothing or bed sheets too. So jump in and get started, and join me for the next part where the scroll is embellished even more!

This was a found object that had a length of bendable wire wrapped around it. Not sure where to get one similar. I’d like another myself!

Love this it is beautiful! The blanket stitch looks like mosaic to me. I was thinking of giving this a try. I thought about using a batik fabric for the background but think it might be a little too stiff to stitch through 🤔 do you agree? Thank you

You’re right batik is a bit stiff. You could use batik but your fingers would most likely get tired quicker than if you used a thinner fabric. I like to use cotton lawn or cotton voile because the needle glides through so smoothly. If you can see through the fabric a bit when it’s held up to the light it probably is a good thickness. 😊🧵🪡

I have an issue with the videos- in general . Too much time pi’s spent flipping your fabrics back and forth…rolling and unrolling fabric, it gets to be annoying, because I am interested in stated process.
