True story about anger: I had a late friend whose brother was a General Authority for a few years before he died. She told me that as a child and in subsequent years, this great man had a terrible temper and was always arguing and trying to pick fights, while no one else in their large family had the same personality problem. She said that with a lot of fasting and prayer and effort, he was able (through many years) to stop losing his temper so easily. It was a miracle that someone with that background would one day be a General Authority. This shows us that anyone can overcome the weakness of anger, if we really want to.

It shows that truly we become new creatures in Christ when we let him prevail in our lives! And that no-one's past needs to define them ❤ Christ's Atonement is the answer for EVERYTHING! 🥰

I have been a person of great anger and often violence. This continued until it ended with great sorrow and remorse. If only I had been taught such things as a child. Pres. Hinckley speaks the truth. I have learned that... finally.

Me too I had the privilege of attending a solemn assembly that even today 40 years Latter my memory still remembers the sweet testimony of the 3rd or 4th councilor at the time caring the hardest of burdens that of President without being President, a councilor to an unhealthy President leading without above his calling. I prayed for and watched his individual growth! A dear dear Prophet of the Restoration I learned much about leadership in the Priesthood of the Living God.

I was privileged to hear this Prophet speak while I was in Canada. He began his talk by saying he knew we were all waiting to hear his wife. We also schooled about reverence by Pres Packer. It was in a sports arena. It was huge and nothing like being in a church. Everyone came early and as you would imagine it was really noisy before the conference began. Elder Packer was really angry. He told all of us that reverence was demanded….not for him, but for his office as an Apostle of God. Amazing experience

So, one thing I have learned, studying psychiatrity, is that when we get angery; we loose control of our frontal lobe, in which controls are frontal lobe of are brain. This cause/ affect shuts down are thinking process. Take a break, cool down, then continue. I Love You all. TY.

This is perfect. Had an experience back when I was in college. My friends and I were just messing about with our phones. However, when one of them saw my background picture of Christ, they said a disrespectful remark. I had never been so mad in all my life. I got my phone and stormed off onto the top deck of the bus, with the echoes of laughter from the kids at the back, slowly becoming quiet as I was walking up the stairs. However, I needed strength from my Heavenly Father because before that happened, I needed to defend myself. My friends apologised, and I did the same while also giving them a hug in the process. But overtime, I began to show resentment towards them, because I didn't want to hear remarks like that again. Or from anyone else. I couldn't let my offences go.

I LOVE President Hinckley! Such fond childhood memories of him long before he became the the prophet. Not that I’m that old, it feels like a lifetime ago. Are used to go for a walk with his wife every evening down the hill and back up the street on the other side at the top of E. Capital Blvd. I loved my uncle and cousins and Utah. President Hinckley was so nice when he passed by he always greeted my uncle with warm regards. My uncle is not a member, my aunt was but she was not active. It doesn’t matter. President Hinckley was the kindest man and neighbor. So President Hinckley also looks like my other uncle who used to get mistaken for President Hinckley all the time. He lived in you Logan and work for the University and he did look a lot like President Hinckley. But there are Differences although he had the same kind of fun loving with as President Hinckley. I’m grateful for the good and kind of men in my life. The love and memories will always be with me and I am grateful that I have them.

There are few things that are so egregious to God to provoke truly justified anger. I appreciate the messages in this talk and I'm sure it speaks to the majority of situations when it is best to reign in unrighteous outbursts of anger. But otherwise, don't hold back the anger that is the impetus of righteous rebuke.
@choosehigherground10 ай бұрын
I personally would be worried to ever act in anger trying to follow the scripture references of God’s anger, primarily for one reason: I don’t know everything. I already struggle to discern in others, because there is just so much unknown. Am I treating someone as Job was treated by his peers? Am I’m portraying and acting out of love, even though I don’t know the consequences of my actions? Consider someone who is terribly hard on themselves emotionally and mentally. The last thing I would want to do is validate their self-hate by showing anything other than overwhelming love. And these types of people are very good at bottling all of that up. Very rarely, if ever, have I felt like I had quite enough information to single out or target a rebuke to the degree of involving anger. Of great concern and love, yes, but anger is too consuming for my mortal heart and mind to play with.
