I love this video 🥰.. Many of the women that I have met and spoken to at Ben Thanh Market in HCMC are single because they work very long hours, some every day and there would be no way for them to have time for family and relationships. It's a matter of individual choice. I also have a very close friend in Hanoi who married at age 25 and has a 2 yr old son now but needs to divorce her husband because he is cruel to her and not romantic or thoughtful. She made a big mistake. But she is trapped and cannot afford to get an apartment on her own. Instead she suffered in the home she shares with her husband and her husbands' parents. So sad.

I heard this from a 27-year-old Vietnamese woman, as well. I don't know if her perception was totally accurate, but she said that Vietnamese guys are not interested in her, because she's already too old, and they would prefer a 22-year-old woman. Meanwhile, she is still conventionally very beautiful (at least by Western standards-I can't speak to Vietnamese standards), and she seems quite popular with foreigners-so at least she still has plenty of options when dating outside of her own culture.

Ok so I am dating this vietnamese girl, I'm viết kiểu. And This idea of ế really captures her exprience I think. In my exprience tho, I think it is because she is quite religious, whereas some more modern women opt not to get married because they want to focus on their careers, rather being just a housewife

actually very few Vietnamese women are housewives. They have to work, take care of kid(s), housing and everything. Not to mention their husband's family as well. If you meet some Vietnamese who are housewives, probably they're wealthy or have good income

I just hate the old way Vietnamese thinking there is something wrong with you at a certain age if you don't accomplished certain expectation like career, marital status, and religion that the society says. It very normal in the west. This is personal and very private and should be discuss with anyone unless that person wants to.
