thats cool im not an arab tho. ever been to malaysia? one of our aikikai shihan here developed a silat fused with aikido so ive heard. i havent seen them personally, but it sound exciting. good job on your channel btw. keep it up brother!

Hmm... Interesting...Not sure that thumb grab would be that easy to get...also if their arm is at a different angle the thumb might not be exposed....is there any other way to get to sankyo position in the R.W.T.C style?

I have a black belt in fukagukia aikido.... took 23 years to get it! Thousands of hours training thousands of falls and throws and all I have to say is the best defense is an awesome offense! When the opponent is talking about it become the best uke you have ever thought about being!!!! And then be ready to be tori!!!

I have 5th degree black in Kenpo, 4th in Hapkido, and wing chun, jeet kune do, and Matrix karate. NONE of it worth crap on street- and none of it any good to me any more-- I'm too old to do the techniques because they would hurt ME worse than the attacker (due to being weakened by getting mashed between 2 trucks in 99 and going downhill every since. I would LOVE to be able to train with you-- now I can only use my cane- (cane-do- serious training with hapkido cane and kendo etc.) and can use it effectively against one or several attackers well.. (I'm an ex ranger too)

Great stuff Sensei Sly, Ive watched most of your youtube videos and you know your martial arts man. I just wanna comment on the videos on which aikido techniques don't work because I fear you don't read those comments anymore. Also they are a few videos in the past and there are a lot of comments. Do moves that you think don't work for example like ikkyo and that move where you move to the side and grab the ukes arm from underneath and throw him (I think you call it hiji shinage) work if you; confuse the opponent, or get him in the right position from another technique or whatever, or stun him with an attack? Sometimes I see these moves used in movies by really tough guys...I know its movies but it seems effective. Thanks again Sensei for the time and the videos.

Ya I watched this guy's video on how to take on 3 guys and it was complete Bs. The dude was holding guy by his neck in front of him like steering im around in front of him using him to block the other guy and it was like dude it's not real the guy will grab u by the balls. I would love to practice with sly sensei not mainly for the techniques but for his confidence. It is something that most sensei, or any aikidoka for that matter, can teach. I think sly sensei would most of the time does not need to perform any technique in self defence situation. His mere presence would definitely do the job perfectly.
