If we could gain enough speed to utilize the hyper speed walking spot in this course, then we could get PU speed. Even then, there's still the height issue, but it MIGHT be possible to do this trick where you move onto a rotating platform at PU speeds and the rotation of the platform affects Mario after he moves a QPU away, causing rotational displacement. In this case, the floating board of wood that wobbles might suffice. I'm not exactly sure how much of that would work, but it's moot point if PU speed can't even be achieved.

billthegangsta I'm not sure what you mean. Normally, you can activate a cannon with B by talking to the bob-omb buddy. In this course, the bob-omb buddy is unreachable without an A button, since it's on a high platform. However, even if a cannon is unlocked, you'd still have to press A to launch from it.

That's what I mean. Have to press a to use the cannon. Was going to suggest shooting out of the cannon to the boat to avoid the 1 a push, but quickly realized that's dumb :P

Was that star dance clip at the end even necessary, or were you just showing off?

Lateralusticus Yes, and I worked hard to get it. You see, the ship was at a point in its cycle where the star side was tilting down, so I couldn't simply go over to the star and DR into it. I could have just waited for the ship to tilt the other way, but it's faster to scale the rim of the ship and DR into the star from there. So once I finished getting the 100 coin star, I'd be left standing still either on the regular part of the ship (no star dance clip) or the rim (using a star dance clip). If on the rim, I could follow the rim to get to the part closest to the star. If I was on the regular part of the ship, I would have to run in a little circle just to gain enough momentum to do dive to DR onto the rim, which is a waste of time considering that I could have just started on the rim had I used a star dance clip.
