I would have booked Cody vs Roman, and had The Rock show up and fight off The Bloodline. Roman loses and is pissed. He calls Rock a traitor to the family. Rock calls Roman a disappointment to the tribe and is unfit to be anyone's chief. Thus leading to Roman vs Rock. That way everyone wins.

I agree with everything you said 100 percent. This decision was atrocious, and it’s the Cm punk 2011-13 storyline all over again. I took a step back from watching wwe around the time that Brock was champion bc he never defended and the matches were shit. I came back again for a very short time when they were building Seth up, but they fucked up badly. In my own fantasy booking I thought if they switch the match back to Cody vs Roman and then before the end of the match the rock sneaks into the ring , knocks out the ref, rock bottoms Cody , then lets Roman win. The Rock has not been “The Rock” since he left after that WrestleMania match with Austin in 2003. He failed as an actor in Hollywood and now he’s back to ruin WWE. People keep blaming Triple H but I think the biggest amount of the blame goes on Rocky here. His ego is why he joined the board of TKO. His ego is why his daughter was then immediately named GM of NXT. His ego is why he outright stole Cody’s hard earned WrestleMania main event. I think WWE screwed up not having Cody beat Roman at WrestleMania 39. But maybe they wanted to give Roman a long title reign which is fine because Roman has worked hard and earned it. But Cody deserves his spot as the new face of WWE at WM 40. He won the Royal Rumble which means he should’ve been able to challenge any champion and it’s clear he wanted Roman. Rock obviously politicked his way into the main event over Cody. It’s total BS. WWE effectively killed any credibility with Cody and made him look like a passive idiot who willingly gave up his earned spot to Rock. I don’t see any swerve they could do to fix this shit. And if they proceed with this plan of Rock vs Roman, it’ll blow up in their faces. Rock will get hurt yet again and that match will suck due to both men being part timers. It’s enough to have me quit watching WWE for good. This is WCW 2000 level dumb.

*sigh* It took me a day. But here's what's going to happen (my BEST prediction). Cody will show up next week on SmackDown. He would challenge Roman reigns at Elimination Chamber. (Fast-forward) #1 contenders match at Elimination Chamber. Winner will be Drew or Randy. Most likely Drew. Drew will face Seth. Cody will defeat Roman at EC with help from the Rock. *To stop Solo etc.* (Cody will get his moment and Will help build up to Roman v Rock). Cody will come out on the next SmackDown and celebrate. Randy will come out to celebrate with him. then he'll get RKOed. LONG Story short... Seth v Drew, Cody v Randy, and Roman v Rock. With Cody retaining his title at Wrestlemania. Cody finishes his story etc. Everybody wins, everybody gets their moments etc. It's not bad booking via the circumstances. (Especially with Punk) I see a huge payoff. And this is why Cody's okay with The Rock taking the spot. Cody still going to get his moment with 60,000 plus at EC And he gets to face Randy at WrestleMania. Cody fans can still be happy. Cuz I'm happy for Roman v Rock. Also Drew fans can get excited because I believe Drew is going to beat Seth at WrestleMania. So he can have his moment at Wrestlemania (But as a heel) I see this as an absolute win!

The funny thing about all of this is you could have Roman vs Rock and Seth vs Cody without the belt. let me explain had they drop the belt to Cody on the last WrestleMania you could still had every single major storyline that involved Roman without Undisputed title on his waist. Logan Paul, John Cena, La Knight, the Bloodline civil war all of it didn't need Roman as champion. While Cody feuds with Brock Lesner, Shinsuke Nakamura, Seth Rollins and Brief encounter with CM Punk would have been more significant if he was the reigning champion. Instead it was way to take 5 steps backwards while going 2 steps forward in progress for no reason. Times like this I'm glad AEW, CMLL,TNA, and NJPW exists cause it's a benefit to have Alternative when the others miss the mark

My biggest question for this is "why, though"? This booking decision reeks of Vinnie Mac BS, and here is the thing: HE has not been in a creative capacity in a year, and with the ongoing scandal around him, there is no way anyone will allow him near the WWE product with a 20 foot pole. It makes no sense for a few reasons. First, the Rock is already in his 50s, the point where a wrestler's body would have been in steep decline. While yeah, I know guys like Jericho still wrestle in their 50s, but you can clearly see he wrestles at a much slower pace. Even if Roman is going to carry the entire match (being the heel means he dictates the offense), the in-ring rust will still be obvious. Two, it comes off as a slap in the face, both for Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, especially after how much of a big deal WWE has made for their returns. Granted, I know CM Punk is hurt, and therefore will have to miss WrestleMania, but Cody is healthy and is in prime position to be the face of the company. Instead, the Rock comes in and pulls the rug out from Rhodes, which ironically is one of the main reasons for CM Punk's infamous pipe bomb promo. Even if Punk is hurt, you know he is watching, and unless there is some angle we are not aware of, this is the kind of bridge burning that drives people away. Guys like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk would be thinking "I came back for this", and unless WWE makes it up for them, this may be the final straw for both after giving the E a chance.

6:06 I was thinking the exact same thing except with Punk as the special guest ref. It does suck but if Cody drops one of the belts by June or July it wouldnt be too bad. Also you could create a few storylines from it. For example, Rollins going in feels like he has to prove something to roman. After the match Rollins and Punk feud because Rollins feel he was screwed by Punk. Rock questions Roman's authority and it leads to Tribal combat at Summer Slam And Cody can lose one of the belts to Gunther (assuming he lost the IC belt by that point)

I think what makes me mad is the fact that Rock basically played politics to get the match. And that also Tko according to Pwinsider tried to claim that it wasn't a political move but mainly was done because it was the bigger draw and they wanted money to be made. And that Tko has control over Wwe in business decisions which is pretty scary because this might not be the last time something like this happens. Where Tko intervenes and doesn't care what the fans want and pulls strings. I think Rock went to Tko and pushed for the match and Tko agreed and went to Triple H. And Hunter couldn't do anything because there is a power struggle there. I'm not interested in watching a old ass wrestler who has potential to get gassed real quick and hurt himself trying to have a match with his cousin. He hurt himself twice wrestling Cena and was gas the whole entire time. This could get ugly where it can be another Brock vs Goldberg at Wm20 where the fans rejected the match and basically booed both men out the building.
