Molly, I always like what you do but I don`t like that huge spacetaker mudroom cabinet, it is old fashion way to have it when you have a living room attached (specially it will start to be clutter with clothes and other stuffs, usually people like to hide those stuffs and have a special room for a mudroom) If you just have a modern rustic bench with few wall hooks above (you can hang something cute on them for staging) it will look much better, more open concept and more modern.

I appreciate your opinion. That is something we truly considered. After getting the sectional into the room and seeing how much space is behind it due to the placement of the doors I knew it would have felt like way too much wasted space there. I opted for the piece that’s there in order to tie it into the kitchen cabinets and give it more of a “built-in” feel.

So Mollie, question for you… we are going to begin changing out all of our door knobs in our house to a modern looking matte black lever knob. I notice in your flip homes, the knobs have been changed but not the hinges? The hinges appear to be brass. I know mixed metals in the kitchen & bath are acceptable. Is the practice of mixed metals on the doors a new trend as well? If I don’t have to paint my hinges to match the knobs, that will be a game changer for me. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Hi Wendy! I haven’t worried about the hinges too much. It would be ideal to have them match, but with the tighter budget we didn’t have room for doing the hinges too! I assume some people will notice, but I think many won’t give it a second thought :)
