@@King_K_Rool_ actually every rtx 40 series card reaches to a tdp of almost 110-115w so its literally the same thing even if nvidia marked it as tgp of 140w which shows in the nvidia control panel. for example the rtx 4060 in my acer predator helios neo 16 2023 laptop has 140w tgp but it reaches till 115w (i did benchmark tests and saw reviews too for every laptop which has a gpu from the rtx 40 series), cuz the rtx 4060 cards are 'power-efficient' as nvidia says.

As far as games go… it has been apparent that cyberpunk has been your main “stress tester” for your builds of late. I think a new one to add to that is Returnal, which has only recently been released on pc, loads of graphics options to tinker with, not many have tried to get it running on lower end systems (at least from what I’ve been able to find on KZbin so far as of this scribbling). I’d really like to see you try returnal on this, and any other builds in future videos!
@Blurredborderlines
@Blurredborderlines Жыл бұрын
Returnal isn’t really much of a stress test unless you turn on RT at which point what are you trying to prove by comparing it to a non-Nvidia device? Even most mainline Nvidia GPU’s can’t properly run RT as it becomes overwhelmingly CPU bottlenecked unless you’re rocking a 4080 or higher.

Great find as always. Keep in mind that your RTX A2000 is PCIe x16 generation 4 (16 Gbps), and the Intel Gen 10 is gen 3, (8Gbps) and only DDR4. The Dell Precision 3260 is a 12th gen i5 with DDR5 memory that is being sold as low as $600. Same case. A better deal is to find a system with a 11th gen Intel which has gen 4 memory. Keep in mind you have to make sure your riser is gen 4 certified. Don’t think you can get by with gen 3. I tried with two different riser cables, one of hight quality and even a 3cm PCB vertical riser - none worked until forced it to gen 3. PCIe 4th gen riser cables start at $40. I did get better results, especially after replacing the heat conductive foam with a copper shim plate. You can also change out the shunt resistor with a lower value to increase the 75W limit and solder a 12VDC power cable to a 12VDC source and ground to push A2000 further with MSI Afterburner. 8000 points in 3D Mark is doable without it exceed 80c. PS the foldable M6/RX6400 is almost done. Still working out the folding hinge design. 3D Mark graphics score of 3422 (sadly the n5150 CPU score was a piddly 1568). Still it beats the Ryzen 6900HX with over clocked DDR5 memory. To bad the company behind the M6 didn’t have the foresight to add to M.2 PCIe slots. In any case runs “Stray” 1080P, 60fps high settings and “Dead Space” 2023 at 1280P, 60fps at almost all high settings. More than enough to meet my limited gaming needs. Even better works great over Sunshine/Moonlight.

The gen3 will not hold back an a2000 whatsoever. A 4090 barely saturates a pcie 3.0 slot. A gpu is not pcie generation specific, the only thing you need to pay attention to is how many lanes the card utilizes (ie the 6500xt on a 3.0 slot).
@allthings3d
@allthings3d 4 күн бұрын
@@jurpo6 Actually compared PCIe 3 & PCIe4 with I5 10th gen & 11gen and there is about 8-10% improvement with PCIe 4th gen x16. I did most of these test in 2023, but can dig up the results from 3DMark. The same holds true with the AMD RX6400, especially since it is only uses 4-lanes and the faster clock improves its performance too. Again were are looking at 5-10% if that. So yes, getting a new/used MB or CPU probably will not be worth it.

I built a similar rig with the A2000 6GB in the Precision 3460 Small Form Factor in March as well. The need to run at base clocks no turbo with a fan using an i5 12500 while still being *VERY* warm and throttling constantly was an annoyance of mine. The first strike was the rough stability situation in games with frame rates fluctuation even locked at 60fps in triple A and locked 120-165fps in e sports. It just could not perform consistently. The noise on the desk where such a machine would stay ended up being the final straw. I am holding out for 784X HS variant small form factors for the time being. The dream of Noctua 120mm 800-1200rpm levels of quality woosh sound in a small, but not tiny form factor especially under 100 watts load *Mwuuaah** perfecto. You have shown many a good option thus far. Currently rocking a 4600G in waiting.

Right now when doing PS3 emulation, it'll jump up to about 80c. Hoping to get that down to the 60's with some other things I have on the way. Thanks for the demo!

I would not recommend this series of dell desktops, I work in IT in a business that exclusively uses dell. I have recently had to pull every one of those precisions for crashing and overheating issues and replace them with standard sff optiplex models. If you get one, make sure it has good access to cool air and repasting the cpu is not a bad idea either. They also get very loud under load, sounds like a mini jet engine.

When i removed it finally cause the watercooler had to go the paste was surely a bit goe but aside of that provided for 10 years the same temps. In your case the system ran at one point and then the parts have been shelved for god knows how long with no heat applied i´d assume the effect on the paste would be even worse over the years. But 2 Degrees? That is within tolerance and/or duo to a bit better paste now being used. So in the end, changing paste is irrelevant, at least if you used proper paste to begin with.

The a2000 is almost a shoe in if the budget is there...but i dont mind modifying other gpu with laptop style blower HSF assembly and low profile power connectors. The case will be custom...as little metal as possible, probably fiberglassed foam and plastic bits from my scrap case heap. I am even removing things like PSU housing and just mounting the PSU PCB inside the case. I have also been looking at laptop motherboards. Price is basically the determining factor when I go to order, but I will check into these motherboards as well. Or even a whole system and flipping the extra parts on ebay or something.

Upgraded it to 16GB, GT 1030, 240GB SSD (later upgraded to a 1TB SSD with DRAM cache), 4TB HDD, PCIe SATA host adapter so I could keep the DVD, NetGear A6100 USB WiFi, not necessarily in that order. Surprisingly a 4-core 4770K struggles to keep up but makes a valent effort. The A2000 is certainly a nice SFF GPU given the space available and have come down appreciably in price. Nice! Thank you.

by the time you factor in the storage, gpu, memory and hassle you're better just getting a mimi pc from Ali Express. I got one 3 years ago with I9-9880h and a gtx 1650 for 700 USD and it game with RAM and 512 gb NVME SSD. Nowadays a 12-th gen with RTX 3050 is abot 800 USD barebone, it's way smaller, way quieter.

Having just completed this build, I can honestly say it's not worth it. I like the small form factor, but there just isn't enough cooling capacity for everything that's stuffed inside the case. The limitations of the Dell motherboard restrict it's usability in the long term. If you're thinking of building a gaming rig, stick to more conventional options. On top of that, this video is misleading, with regard to the GPU bracket. The single slot Quadro bracket won't line up with the screw holes on the RTX A2000. I had to grind down a dual slot bracket to make it fit.

These are still too expensive to consider IMHO. For similar price you have 3260 with 12th gen CPU. Or for same price build miniITX with 5800X3D and better I/O. If they were going for half the current asking price second hand, they would be great but at the moment it's a hard sell.

If you want an A2000 but still want the SteamOS look and feel, you should have Big Picture Mode enabled on startup. Regardless, it would be interesting seeing the RX 6400 with SteamOS.

Great channel watch quite often. If you put a graphics card that needs 6 or 8 pin power would a dell 230 brick plug right into the card? Then it would be two separate power supply?

Lenovo is building systems (ThinkStation P360 Ultra) with the same form factor, 12th Gen CPUs with lots of DDR5 and Lenovo doesn't charge $600 for 32GB DDR5 either like Dell does and you can get the 12GB version of the A2000 included with their configs. Much better system if you ask me since you do not need to mod it to get the A2000 to fit.

Should compare p360 ultra with dell 3260 I/O this one. 3260 can pair with 13th Gen Intel and A2000 (no need any mod).

I work on a lot of dells of very different sizes and when you opened this up i realized that it's basically a vertically stretched dell ultra small form factor. Made wider to fit a video card. It even uses a very similar cpu cooler to deel usff PCs, but i definitely can see the temps being a lot better

I have one minor problem with Dells - Re-installation. They have about 5 hidden partitions that contain "backup" and "recovery" files.... but none of them work. Worse, those drives prevent a fresh install of anything, even Linux, let alone Windows. Out of the box refurb Dells are brilliant. BUT, if you hit a problem... you're probably looking at replacing the hard drive. I even deleted the partition and STILL the Dell software put it back - I can only assume from a ROM on the Motherboard. Ease of use out of box? 10/10, no doubt. If there's a problem... 2/10, IF the backups even work...
