I’ve just happened on this little series and think it’s superb. You really show boating at it’s best, getting out on the water without spending a fortune and having the best of adventures. Great job, Donny, thank you.

Great trip! Could you please explain the purpose of the small motor you carry? I have felt sometimes the need for a backup motor, for solo trips, but then I think that there is a rather limited set of conditions where a very small motor would be able to save you. Thank you!
@tonus65593 жыл бұрын
Lovely video Donny as ever! Wanted to ask - when you leave your boats overnight do you just drop a short anchor (or two) near the boat, or an anchor on a longer line on the dry shore? Or both?! Keep up the good work ;)
@donnywilcox3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the location and conditions Tonus but always the main anchor out to sea with the bow pointing into waves..even on a calm night as the wind often catches us out. Then a rope from transom and fixed to land..often round a rock so there is no chance of it failing. This rope keeps the boat pointing into the waves too. Sometimes if I think the wind could swing and start blowing the boat sideways onto rocks..I will deploy the second anchor as I always carry two..so sometimes its fixed by three separate ropes..if that makes sense
@donnywilcox3 жыл бұрын
I dont want to give too much away..but we were caught out on Canna the 2nd night so very glad we had three ropes out..but it was a nightmare getting away in big swells in the early hours of the morning as the waves rolling down a narrow channel hitting the boats as we tried to get out :-D
@tonus65593 жыл бұрын
@@donnywilcox that does make sense Donny, thanks for explaining. I always wondered how you did it but could never see it clearly. Like yourself I traded up from a Sib to a (slightly smaller at 3.6) Rib and I’m loving it - still got a lot to learn! Thanks again

Hi donny,whats the compass you use?
@donnywilcox7 ай бұрын
Hi..its a ritchie sport compass ..around about 50 quid. Never given any problems in the 12 years I have had it mounted to the boat and used regular..hope that helps

@donnywilcox Жыл бұрын
Hi Schmiddy ..thanks for commenting and I have now watched part 1 of Arran by OYZ. It was lovely seeing a different view point of others going round the island as I have done it many times. They certainly look like a fun bunch of guys. I had watched their Isle of Man video before and really enjoyed it.. although they were a bit loud and "inyerface" for me. What I liked about that video was they way they wound up the health and safety guys by portraying themselves as clueless .. which I dont think they are. It did make me wish I was young again :-D
