Also works with Inline 6 engines. Saved me having to engine swap my food truck too. The dowels were the hardest part for me too. I ended up using small C-clamps to "press" them into place on the side where there wasn't enough room to line up a hammer.

I have the same problem rite now but after screeching for a persistent fix with out changing the block I have a 350 short block well there is a kit for a 55,cheve used to convert the 55start mount to an up dated starter well it can as long be used for our situstion it consit of a plate that aline with the bolt to transmision into block bolts wel that Plat goes in between the block n tranny sandwiched leaving a mount aligned for a 168 tooth fly wheel calls for an old 3bolt month for stater so u can get the front shell of a 3bolt mount starter n remove front shell of ur ovr head mount exchange with 3bolt star front shell so to mount on plate look up 55chevy converter start mount kit t

exact same thing just happend to me. i went through 2 starters and a ton of shims just for the ear to drop right of the block and land right on my teeth. im going to try to weld the chunk back to the block and use the bolt to make it sit the right way. if that works im going to weld a stud in a be done

@@trevorjoeofficial as far as I can tell it did work. Needs some fine tuning but as long as you don't put unnecessary pressure on the weld joint by putting a lock washer on the starter bolt it'll hold strong enough to crank but again this kinda repair is difficult to get right.

I have a 95 5.7 broken bloc and so I hela coiled the hole on the block Side and jb weilded it in and drilled a hole all the way thru the out side And have same problem of it getting loose a And binding the rear bracket idea along with I think is the answer other than weilding the holes full and redrilling

I'm inclined to agree with you, I think the JB weld might work but would be smart to add that bracket too.

You would have to call the manufacturer of the kit

You should just swing buy a welding shop and hand out some free chili dogs and get someone to weld it up, a good welder should have no problem with that.

Yeah James, I tried. Couldn't find anyone in my area that really wanted to even give it a shot. We did find an easy and economical repair, coming soon.

Tried welding, didn't work well, DEPENDS HOW CRACKED THE BLOCK IS, try brake cleaner and a good light and you will see how many cracks there are. Gave up, a rebuild ordered.

Yep, the new bracket and 3 bolt starter worked well for me
