how would i shot a 2BB drennan stick float? im confused do I use 2 x BB shots on the line followed by smaller no.4s all the way down towards hook link?

Hi Ghost gaming, you could use 2BB as your bulk shot or similar to Phil use a small olivette of equivalent weight to keep things extra neat. Set the bulk of you weight 12 inches above the hook. Use much smaller dropper shot for a better presentation, number 6 or 8's.

I personally have always shotted my stick float rigs shirt button style it then lets the bait drop in a slow arc through the water

Hi Jeff, I find fishing with the bulk of the weight at the bottom of the rig it suits the shallower faster stretches like in this video. Having the weight further down the line allows me to hold the float back without the bait rising up in the water so much. Although on the slower rivers where I feel the odd bonus fish can be caught on the drop I'm happy to use the shirt button approach. Tight lines Phil

@@philspinks4142 Fair shout Phil !! I’ve really only fished slow rivers ( Cherwell, windrush but I concur with your bulk on shallow, fast rivers It was just another shotting pattern that ghost gaming could use.

Specialist rod like for chub / barbell? Fox 1.5lb has a soft top but very progressive.

@@alexandrvictorovich7496 I think so, to the point where it might bump of smaller roach if you strikes to hard. I use the fox Royale 1.5 lbs if I need a rod with more backbone, it is heavier than the Accolyte and less responsive in the tip and line control but stiffer and alot more progressive. Specimen tench and bream are no issue. Even double figure carp are fine.

UK rivers are rammed with trout..... can be a pan in the arse with there suicidal tendencies for the discerning roach, dace, chub angler

Hi Eric, Phil was using the Advanta X5 power float rod in 10 foot, ( AD185) A similar rod would be the Advanta X3 power float in 10 foot (AD401)

I've been a Uk match angler for 35 years... It only took my 7 year old daughter to convince me that growing bud/marijuana was/is a better option for the planet..:D I do both... So sue me.... She wouldn't understand the joke.
