Hard Russian is the poetic language by Pushkin, Tolstoy etc. And of course using old, rarely used words with a wider meaning. Welcome to the Russian language! :)

Well, try to figure out, what "косил косой косой косой" means. I don't believe any vocabulary or online translator will be of great help. However, some people have tried to translate it to other languages, so just google that. XD
@TotalRookie_LV6 жыл бұрын
+Rainbow Maybe, but there is a lot of nuance, words not found in vocabulary and intonations, besides there is no stickt word order like in English, so a sentence can be a question or not, based just on intonation alone, like "Ты знаешь." / "You know." and "Ты знаешь?" / "Do you know?" Still, it's not tonal like Chinese. XD Russians are jocking, that the phrase "да нет, наверное" makes foreigners go crazy, if they take it literally as "yes, no, perhaps", like an English speaking guy talking about his Russian girlfriend "so, what does she want then?!" Well, actually that "да" is pronounced slightly different from "yes" form of it - with a very, very short "a", so it's just like English "oh" initiating a sentence, and the whole phrase means "I guess not". Another example is "да ладно!" that does not mean "yes, sure" or "OK", but is something like "Oh, common!" (you got to be shitting me!).

Ну, русское правописание, это да, не полный мрак, конечно, но и не такое простое, как у моего родного латышского, где написание _почти_ 100% соответствует произношению, да еще почти без всех этих мучений по поводу слитно или раздельно, "а" или "о", а "ь" перед -тся ставить или не ставить итд.

If it’s too fast, just slow it down! I put it on 0.75% speed with the occasional pause to read when it was too fast for me still and I was able to keep up quite well!

I think this was a great video. For those criticizing it - I've been married to a Russian for 20 years and when visiting my family in Russia over the years, I spent lots of time in kitchen talk situations like this one. It was my frustration at not being able to follow such conversations that became the very motivation for studying Russian in the first place. Funny enough, it was also the type of language use that took me the longest to really get to grips with. I can read Russian literature, where I have the time to look up the odd word, but it took much longer to get to grips with this type of situation where people would speak fast, words seem to be used in any order in sentences and you just have to keep up or be left out. Мне очень понравилось! Спасибо

I LOVED this format. LOVED IT! It's like watching a short film. Very ingenious. Congratulations to the person or persons who thought of this. Big thumbs up. p.s. I do feel bad for the girl and her dumb boyfriend though..."My parents are at the Dachs" she says, and he wants to watch a film and then finally gets called in to work and leaves immediately. What a bozo. I would have told my boss "Sorry, I'm sick" 😆 (I'm kidding) Once agsin, great Idea about this video, Harosho!

If you can't keep up, pause the video and read it before they say it, and if they have already said it, replay it, it's as simples as that, if you ever set foot in Russia, do you really think they will speak nice and slow for you ? It will be like that in the video or sometimes even worse! So get used to it lol
