Hi Adam, Pete from England here. I just love all your video, but especially the ones where you visit small towns and show us all their idiosyncrasies. I've never been to the States but feel I've got to know so much about it from your work that many Americans would be unaware of. Love it when Ma & Pa come too. Keep up the good work, I appreciate it so much!

Those calves you saw are in "Calf Hutches"...the vast majority of dairy calves live in a calf hutch for the first weeks of life. Housing calves in hutches allows calves with immature immune systems to receive individualized care during the most crucial part of their lives. With a calf living in an individual hutch farmers can see exactly how much milk and other feed they consume and can see the consistency of their manure, both are an important indicator of health.
@markthomas698015 күн бұрын
Wrong.. they are VEAL HOUSES.. they lock the calf’s in there so they can’t move. To keep the meat tender. They will never make it to be a cow.
@ShelleeGraham15 күн бұрын
Thank you for providing that information. 👍 So interesting and happy to know the calf’s health is monitored so closely.
@darrells143515 күн бұрын
You sure they are not Veal Cows?
@goldengirl5415 күн бұрын
@@roxanneswanson4500 You are right. Those calves are taken from their mothers to keep "mom" producing milk to sell. The young ones are either raised for milk production, veal or if allowed to grow up, they are headed to the slaughter house.

I don't like the Midwest called in the 'middle of nowhere'. That's kind of like a city folk statement, like using 'flyover country' as if it isn't anywhere important. Remember when you go grocery shopping, where does a lot of your food come from. Not from the big cities, that's for sure.

City folks tend to live in there big bubble and know nothing of the real American small towns. Maybe they think of them as just a pit stop off the interstate. Off the interstate, gas up, fast food and back on the interstate.

Another great backroads video. When you said Wisconsin, I thought maybe you'd do Beloit College. When my daughter was looking there, during the tour, we found out that Beloit College and Professor Roy Chapman Andrews was the real-life inspiration to Indiana Jones. The "Cowlien" came from the Milkyway and that is not udderly ridiculous. The 1940 Ford is what MY grandparents used to cross the country that same year along Route 66. Calves in large dog sheds are not uncommon. I see that in Pa. all the time. You seem obsessed with water towers. You should go to Weirton, W.V. where Super 8 was filmed. Thanks for another good one.
