I have Mel Bartholemew's 3rd Edition and some of the spacing doesn't match. Are you talking about specific varieties of things like broccoli and brussel sprouts?

With brocoli / cauliflower and Brussels sprouts I am talking with experience. Maybe we had different varieties... Who knows. I found the spacing of 4 per 9 sf online and I can't imagine growing them closer. Only the head of my cauliflower would take 1 square feet but there is foliage too... I don't know

I agree with you. There is no way you can only fit 4 small shallots in 1 sq ft & get 9, much larger turnips in the same space!

WRONG??? Your bean spacing does not match the spacing listed in Mel Bartholomew's All New Square Foot Gardening book (2013). Mel says "Medium plants include bush beans, beets, and large turnips." Medium plants are 9-per square foot. Not one per four square feet as shown in your video. And for pole beans it says 8 per square foot-not one bean per four sq feet. Maybe because you are referring to extra large beans instead of medium beans??? I'm still somewhat new to SFG so no clue which works best. Will be transplanting my starter bean seedlings this week following Mel's 'official' spacing to see what happens. Thx for the useful video tho.

Beans, bush (4:19) Beans, pole (4:22) This is the spacing for the beans the large ones needs extra space. Thank you for the mention. Probably extra large beans need more space but I dont grow them I grow my pole beans 8 per square feet and my bush beans 9 per square foot.

My beans this year yielded maybe a scant one hundred individual beans from 32 plants I planted in milk crates lined with garden fabric weed barrier. Was my first attempt at beans this way. Mine were too close. Won't make the mistake again. Will stick with what you show and say. Lesson learned. The hard way. Ouch. Here's to a better 2021 attempt. Oddly enough, though not yielded well during the year those that have not died off are still producing random beans despite the cold weather. Go figure.thx x2
