Nice! I can definitely use this with my Beastgrip DOF rig.

Beastgrip? Are you talking something for mobile phone? Or they sell camera accessories as well? Beastgrip DOF brings up mobile phone grips on Google search.

@@sparkestudio Depth of field Adapter . It attaches to your phone to give you a shallow depth of field. I have a brief glimpse of it in my review going over how to record to an external drive.

@@heroicvision that's crazy that little mobile phone camera lens. Saw the video, just never really paid attention to anything other than the grips and holder for the phone. The nice part about a phone is it is small, light and better battery life than a camera. For such a small lens you might want more like the "SMALLRIG Mini Follow Focus". Not sure how smooth it moves but it has the same friction grip and Wheel. Almost bought the Nitze Mini Follow Focus Kit cause it has 3 wheel sizes but went for options like the torque tension, wheel adjustment to avoid limitations or possible disappointment. Neewer mini follow focus and Tilta mini some people mentioned it isn't as smooth feeling to turn. I tried a very very expensive powered wireless follow focus when I was a background actor last month and darn was it beautiful. Don't remember the brand but it had some heft and looked too expensive to have in mind lol.

@@sparkestudio I have the Tilta wireless system. When I film myself I use that to control the lens while using a wireless field monitor setup

Thank you very much I attempted to add a link to my video description but it fails to bring up the "exact" crank so here is a description so you can search your location Nitze Speed Crank for Follow Focus - T006-03 I was originally planning log ago to make an everything follow focus video comparing my Tilta Nano II wireless follow focus, with this follow focus with the crank and the Tilta follow focus whip that I also own. Simply haven't had the time, I work at a remote work location for 15 days and am only home for 6 and a half days.

@@sparkestudio u should make a video about whip focus and crank focus......cause i try to search entire youtube , no one do any review or benefit using crank and whip on the follow focus of any brand . if u make out, i will be the first person sure watch your video .

Excellent review! I was looking for a new follow focus anyways.

Thank you. I will be making another video showing how you can improve your experience... With links to the products in a video in the future. Other Gears, seamless gears, hand crank, follow focus whip. What use cases when filming. If there are specific questions you have feel free to ask before I make the video. I won't be for at least another week and a half cause I have 2 products for review sitting on my desk... This is my smaller channel, my other one is "Tech", while this one is studio equipment and microphones.

Despite it being a more affordable wireless option I am really curious about the "Smallrig MagicFIZ Wireless Follow Focus". On Amazon I see come complaints about weak motor and also KZbinr reviewers also hyping it. So I don't know, any thoughts?
@connornyhan10 ай бұрын
I used it recently. The motor is definitely weak and limits the lenses you can use. The lenses I was using them with were the Red Pro Primes (which are complete and utter garbage), but on top of that they were old and mistreated, so they were VERY stiff. With modern smooth focus mechanisms, the Magic FIZ is totally okay.
@sparkestudio10 ай бұрын
@@connornyhan For the F60 if you place it very tight to the gears not 100% flat it doesn't work as well and should be places as close to camera body as possible. I never had a not so good old lens to try. Seamless gears on Amazon appear to all be made with soft rubber the stiff rubber gears appear to be more pro sellers and a premium price point. The magic FIZ works well? Don't know why the reviews are so overall low? I would have enjoyed a wireless option, the battery charging and powering on an off for run and gun wouldn't be my thing but for movie production power! I will be making a video of options and how power has over these hand crank lightly so. We had a really nice powered focus puller on set, it was so smooth. I believe the one we used on set was the Nucleus-M: Wireless Lens Control System; simply beautiful. I was a background actor but I they let me try their gear.
@connornyhan10 ай бұрын
@@sparkestudio yeah that was a good set (I was the Gaffer). The Nucleus M is great, it’s much better than the Magic Fiz, but if I compared the magic Fiz to the original Nucleus Nano, the Magic Fiz would definitely win. As for the Nano 2, that’s a very different story
@sparkestudio10 ай бұрын
@@connornyhan Or sorry I didn't notice it was you on set 🙃. Nano II, interesting option for an affordable price point. I like the idea of wireless for self focus pulling. Doing a review and having to cover my face or the camera focusing on hands when you want the eyes. Do you have any experience with IRIX lenses? I am considering the IRIX 30mm T1.5 cine lens. They are a more affordable cine lens but no cheap like the 7artisans or sirui
@connornyhan10 ай бұрын
@@sparkestudio No first hand experience with the Irix lenses, but I've heard nothing but good things, not just online but from people I know. I'm thinking in 2 years when they've released more focal lengths it might be a good set to get. They've got a 65mm coming out which is my favorite portrait lens for full frame. The 30 is great though, especially since you’re using APS-C/Super 35, a 30mm (or anything between a 28mm and 35mm) is essentially the quintessential lens.
