Seems like a nice little update! I have the previous versions, they work great with cinema cameras. Btw, as always, great and informative video!

Something important to note with these is that they are very feature rich, can power all of your gear, AND go on a plane! TSA limits batteries to 100wh so a traveler could bring just this one battery to power their whole setup.

Yes, these new SmallRig V mounts are really top notch. I am setting up a mobile jig and wanted to keep it lightweight and small. I got the VB50 and achieved my goal. Amazon had a used one for $106 that I snatched up - looked like some barely opened the package. It is basically new. One less USB C port, but same great display. I have other V mount for the studio, but I did not have a good field solution until these new batteries showed up. You cannot go wrong with them.

I guess it's high time to give these a try. Never used V-mount before but they sure seem useful!

i have an Anker 737 with 140w and it's amazing. it has two usb-c and one usb-a outputs. it completely recharges in 45 minutes. it's not a v-mount so it's difficult to mount anywhere, but it's usually on sale for $129. i may have to find an adapter for mounting.

FYI - Arhtur showcased the most expensive of the SmallRig 99WH mini-V mount batteries (currently $249.99USD Sep 11 '24). If you don't need all of these features you can go with the mid level at $199.99 or the SE model at $149.99. All three have the D-Tap, 8V, 12V, USB-A and USB-C ports.

The new version of the battery looks quite good, especially the USB interface can output different voltages at the same time. The old version of the battery USB interface can only output the same voltage at the same time.

Using USB-C charging via V-Mount is the best thing to do. Endless hours of filming while the camera battery still in if anything wrong happens or you wanna pull it quickly off the rig. Stalls the battery in use and charges it when closed. Not a fan of dummy batteries. Would go with the ZGCine instead that has 100W PD output as well, screen, and less than half the price.
@sonervisuals
@sonervisuals 11 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree, you need to know what you are doing with a dummy battery. If you don't handle it carefully, your gear can easily break. I always keep my internal battery inside the camera.
@Bo_Hazem
@Bo_Hazem 11 ай бұрын
@@sonervisuals I personally think dummy batteries are ancient already. Powering via USB does as well take the heat away from the internal battery so there is really zero benefit of using dummies but introducing unnecessary risks. You can hot swap your v-mount battery any time on set.

So did it actually keep your gear running for the predicted 2 hours and 57 minutes?

Hello Arthur, when using a vmount battery, do I need to have the camera battery inside when using the vmount battery? or I can directly use the vmount battery directly via USB-C to power up the camera and use it for longer video shoots?

Honestly, I use a 20,000 mah, anchor power bank for my camera and that lasted me shooting a wedding video for 15 hours without needing to switch batteries or anything so I’m pretty happy with that and it was only like $30

Not so useful to charge monitors though:) But yeah it all comes down to what you need it for.

I don't even have a proper rig yet but i still got one to be able to film longer on my a6400 and use it as a powerbank on the go especially for my macbook which normal powerbanks cant charge at all or very slowly.

I have a similar setup (the only difference is Zoom F6) with 1st gen of SmallRig V month batteries. It creates noise on the headphone output.

Interesting, I chose to switch to equipment that uses USB-C and got a 20000mAH powerbank for $70 USD, I had no idea these existed :D

I have the VB155 and when I mount it on the Tilta v-mount adapter on FX6, it does not show any power draw. The power draw will only show when devices are connected the ports on the top (usbA, C and DC) and not the bottom BP or d-tap output.

Is it possible to simultaneously connect a camera and a monitor to an 8 and 12 volt jack port?
@StMediaNL

Hi, did you check the voltage output? Heard multiple people say the voltage limiter doesn't work, so it gives up to 17V. In some cases this can be really bad. Thanks!

If you happened to be sent a 27mm apsc lens from Viltrox for E mount and weren’t allowed to talk about it yet, hypothetically should I expect a review to come out in the near future? Would really like that lens but if it doesn’t release for Sony soon I’ll have to go with the sigma 23.

Hey! How are you connecting the battery to the monitor? Are you using a battery eliminator with a dc to dtap?

I just bought one, worked fine for a few hours, then it started to show 0.8W draw even though nothing is hooked up, and also the power button doesn't work when i hold it. It won't turn off the screen. In fact the screen would stay on all the time. Also, the battery loses charge on its own slowly. It says 5 days something battery life left when nothing is plugged in. Anyone experienced this? Any solutions?

Hey man, I'm running an A6700 and an Atomos Ninja V as the monitor. Is it safe to connect the Atomos Ninja V to the VB99 D-tap and the A6700 through a Smallrig dummy battery plugged into the 8V port of the VB99? It's getting a bit confusing and I wanna make sure I don't damage anything

Thanks for your insights! I researched a lot and decided to got with bebob, Anton Bauer and Swit. The smallrig looks great on paper - but the service and reliability seems to be a risk. Especially for a soloshooter like me, who has not several batteries but maybe one or two (or - learning the hard way - three...).

Too pricey for my one man show even though one unit with all connectors built in sounds very temptating as a idea. But will it speed up my productivity enough also customers to pay more and faster for something they don’t even see of touch? I doubt. I”ll pass this time.

I just got my small rig battery. I noticed that it doesn’t like it when I turn the camera off. It won’t power the camera back up once I turn the camera on and off? Do I have a defective battery?
