If you actually watch the show, the women are just as badass and equal to the men and they do have a woman on the team…a few, actually, as the show moves forward. Each gender on the show treats each other equally. You wanna see some great fight scenes? To this day, I still look fondly back at Smallville. I've seen the entire series 3 times over now, and have embraced their story choices and design choices, which weren't great. I was 13 when this aired, so I was completely blind to the company details behind certain choices, like, why Impulse, "when's Batman?", "why didn't Martian Munhunter join them?" he first appeared 3 episodes ago, and "why Cyborg, why isn't he with the Titans?" Finding most of those answers years later proved that this show was a miracle with those restrictions. ( Cyborg being yhere seemed like a Geoff Johns idea, it's why he was promoted to founding member in so many incarnations now. Also, Michael Rosenbalm, the best on screen Lex)
@SchulzEricT3 жыл бұрын
I honestly think the first 3 seasons were good; not any individual episode necessarily, but as a whole, the first 3 seasons hold up well enough. But then the show was successful, they kept going instead of wrapping up the story in 4 seasons, so they just spun their wheels for, what, 5 more seasons? I think the 4th season actually had a lot of fun episodes, but the 5th season really started to show the cracks. What they SHOULD have done was lift the "no tights, no flights" restriction once the show got picked up for more and more seasons. I think the problems with the show are largely a result of keeping those restrictions that could've worked for 4 seasons or so, but not 8. (Or however many it was; I think 8 but I'm not going to look it up.) I mean, there were other problems, of course, but for its time, it was fine except for stubbornly sticking to the original conceit despite doubling the show's length.

Lois dresses up in a Wonder Woman costume in an episode, and I'm fairly certain they even say that's who she's dressed as. That just complicates the lore even more, with costumes and characters.

"No tights no flights" always sounded conditional to me. No tights no flights until he's actively being Superman. But the show ran long enough that he was basically Superman for the last few seasons. And by then it felt like "no tights no flights" wasn't a story device anymore, it was just an awkward barrier to write around.

Here's something interesting about Smallville: there was a scrapped script for an episode about Clark actually having to go out and try and find a blue shirt to go underneath the red jacket he wears. The name of the episode, interestingly, was Blue Harvest, the same name as the working title for Star Wars!

"Comfy" is a great word to describe Smallville, I just realized that now. Nice!
@redhairedshanks58453 жыл бұрын
Comfy , cozy and oddly relaxing. I don't know if it's the show itself or that most of us have our nostalgia glasses on where we remember days that we had less worries. But then again i faintly remember the show watching it on tv when i was young in the late 2010s, so maybe the show has these comfy vibes on its own because of the small town setting. Wow i started rumbling again nostalgia can be a bitch sometimes. Cheers
@Sulufy3 жыл бұрын
@@redhairedshanks5845 I actually think that a lot of the comfyness comes from the fact that alot of the show is set during the day. Compared to stuff like the modern CW DC shows that mostly seem to be at night. Plus the way they lit the show gave everything this soap opera-esc glow that just makes it feel warm.
@li-limandragon92873 жыл бұрын
