So, you said you were about half way between Subang and Penang when you stopped for your first charge. I am assuming you covered slightly less than 200km and you charge state was 26%. Did you start with a full charge? If so, this is really not good.

We did *not* start with a full charge, as there was an activity prior to the drive north that saw us deplete a significant amount of charge before setting off. This was the point, as to force members of the media to manage charging on the way rather than 'hypermile' to the hotel and learn nothing about the app or IHU.

Was there a cost benefit vs an ICE car on such a long drive?
@MalaysianMotoring10 ай бұрын
This is something we couldn't calculate at the time as 1) The hello smart! app uses in-app credits for our drive, rather than the payment gateway that's available for owners, and 2) There was a DCFC at the overnight stop that was managed by the events team, and therefore could not be calculated into costing. However, we have observed that in traffic EVs consume significantly less power and therefore cost less per-KM over a combustion vehicle. Therefore we reckon that as traffic built up on the Penang Bridge, through Georgetown and then to the northern part of the island, the #1 should have remained quite frugal. We intend to test this separately in a dedicated video soon!

Ev tyres 1 biji 1k 😅 but maintenance once a year just check up

@@yagooatthegoatthat’s what I thought too, but the EV tyres are getting more affordable these days. The Hankook Ion Evo for #1 19inch is RM750/pcs only, it’s AAA rated tyre, which is higher than Michelin PS EV with only A.

7:55 does the adas use radar or camera
@MalaysianMotoring10 ай бұрын
The smart #1 uses radar primarily, with camera as secondary data feed.

why not you all arrange another real world test on the Chinese New Year period, try to get stuck in the traffic for 8 to 10 hours and see if it could make it from KL to Penang?
@MalaysianMotoring10 ай бұрын
1) EVs consume considerably less than ICE cars do in traffic. And so it would be within reason to assume that the #1 Premium would easily exceed its 440km claimed range in such conditions. 2) There is plenty of precedent of EVs exceeding claimed kWh/100km in heavy-traffic conditions. 3) We have better things to do during public holidays. We also need time off.

Don't bother, use ice for your long distance. Use EV for your city drive. Save you all the headaches. 1) DC charger may get clog up during high traffic period. 2) your destination charging is something you need to think about. We can only stay in this hotel because there is a charging stations. 3) flexibility. Eg. We must eat at mall 'abcd' tonight. If not, our car would not be able to charge up. 4) cost are not significantly cheaper than ice to worth all the problem. DC are expensive. 5) range anxiety. And long distance travel with frequent DC charging are bad for your battery. Will degrade it faster.
