For the 450 Smart used to do a freshen up kit which was all the panels and clips ,badges etc for £300. Keep up the good work.ps I still have the brochures and price list for your car when we meet up next. I hadn’t forgotten.

Watching you go to Smart Technic is like heaven for me. We don't have any dealerships nor many private garages that you can take a Fortwo to get repairs done. I would love to walk through a salvage yard of old Smarts to look for parts but that doesn't exist here. Small salvage yards here are getting to be a thing of the past as the smaller mom and pop salvage yards give away to the larger salvage networks that are networked together and ship parts abroad like LKQ. Many of the yards won't even allow you to go back in the car areas anymore and they say that is because of insurance and liability reasons. When you need something they make you wait in the waiting room and they go pull the part for you and then charge an arm and a leg for their time plus the price of the part. I am one of the lucky ones as I am a retired automobile mechanic and have my own Star computer to tend to my Fortwo Passion and a Cabrio. I've never even seen a 450 or a Roadster in person. The US has a rule for importing cars that if a vehicle is 25 years old or older it can be imported and not be responsible for our lovely EPA emission and safety standards. So hopefully at some point I may be able to look into purchasing a 450 or a Roadster. But for now I will just enjoy sitting back and watching you go to Smart Technic and show me all the salvage Smarts. I love your channel. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thanks. I am lucky to have such a good repair specialist within an hour of home. They really are great people and passionate about Smarts. Yes I enjoy walking around the ‘playground’ and miss the fact most scrapyards have either gone completely or as you said, become overpriced with parts removed by staff. Thanks for your support. Scarlet is looking really good, there is nowt like fresh paint and new panels in this case, wouldn't it be more convenient if all cars were built in this way, pull in to body shop, change panels for new or used repainted panels, all done in the same day, you could do it at home if your handy.

Thanks. Yes it seems such a good idea. If I was better with hands… I would have attempted it but I know plastic clips and such don’t age well so was relaxed knowing Jack and Ben were doing it. Ben likes to take the mick with how clean I keep my cars 🙃

@@LivetoDriveUK I know your fully capable of replacing those bumpers, I agree on the fragile plastic clips, been there done that, they are not easy to source when your in the middle of a a job. There is nothing wrong with a clean car, pride in ownership says a lot about the owner, my cars are usually clean before I take them in for repairs, I figure the tech always notices and will do a better job, I could be wrong but its up there in my noggin.

I think, might be wrong, panels are still available but not with the colour already on.
