Good video, thanks! Just set up mine a few minutes ago and seems great!

That’s great to hear! I hope my video was helpful. It’s been a month or more with mine and it works every time. Since I made the video, I’ve connected the Meross opener to SmartThings. I had an unused SmartThings button that I assigned to the garage door. Sometimes I open with voice, sometimes the button, there are so many options. Thanks for watching!

Glad to hear it! It’s been several months for me, I don’t even try to use the standard remote in the house now, just yell for Alexa to help. I can’t remember having a single issue with it. I do have a question though, do you use either the original remote from the garage door manufacturer or the programmable buttons in your vehicle? I use the programmable buttons in my Jeep, and feel like there was a slight reduction in the range since installing the Meross unit. It works, just feels like I have to be closer to the garage now. Could be my imagination. Even if that’s the case, the benefits still outweigh that problem. Thanks for watching!

Wow, simple and straight to the point setup, well done. Can the app be set up to add a restricted user. IE: only for certain times and duration that a person has limited access?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews7 ай бұрын
Thank you! This is not a feature I was looking for so I had to look. After scouring the app, I do not see this functionality, unfortunately. That would be neat though. I know most garage door opener manufacturers have their own proprietary products that Amazon can use to open your garage for packages, it’s possible those products have a similar function for friends/family/dog walkers/etc. I don’t have any experience with them though. Sorry I couldn’t be more help! Thanks for stopping by!

Does the smart opening show in both HomeKit and the Meross App?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews22 күн бұрын
Any system (HomeKit, Alexa, SmartThings, Meross, Etc.) you connect to your Meross account will display the device. So no matter which of those apps, or connected devices, you’re using, you’ll be able to control the door. Other than the button in my Jeep, I use an app or device to control my door all the time. It’s extremely convenient.

@@TheGardenDefenderReviews Can you partially open and close the door or does it only go full open or full close??
@TheGardenDefenderReviews19 күн бұрын
I’m going to get back to you on this. I’m pretty sure the answer is up and down only. But I want to try it before I say for sure. Happy New Year’s!

@@TheGardenDefenderReviews I’ve found one so far that allows for partial operation. I like the one you posted but want to know if it can part open. Thank you for getting back to me and I look forward to hearing if it can or not. HAPPY NEW YEAR and thank you for the response
@TheGardenDefenderReviews18 күн бұрын
My verdict is this probably won’t work the way you’d like. In the Meross app, I’m unable to change the status until the door has fully opened or closed. In Smartthings, I was able to stop it half way up, but I doubt that’s what you’re looking for. Using Alexa or Siri won’t work because of how long they take to respond. I can’t use home kit anymore, a limitation of my personal WiFi setup, so I can’t test that app. I assume it will perform similarly to SmartThings. I know it’s not the answer you hoped for, but I hope it’s helpful! Thanks for watching!

I’ve got a craftsman door with a wall mount opener that is currently taking up the 2 holes that I’m supposed to use to hook the wires to for my new opener. Can i stick my new wires in with the old so I can continue to use the wall button or do I have to eliminate the wall mount?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews4 ай бұрын
I am not an expert, BUT, you should have no issues using the same terminals for BOTH the wall button and the Meross opener. That’s how mine is connected, and they work just fine. I use both daily.

Can't open and close. Green light is illuminated but it says obstructed in my apple homekit app but nothing is obstructed. My myQ app works opening and closing. Any suggestions?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews4 ай бұрын
Have you tried using the Meross app to open and close? Just curious if that works. I found a Reddit thread titled “Just Received a Meross Garage Door Opener, constantly says its obstructed when its not, need som help on why” and the overwhelming suggestion is to change the “Opening Time” in the Meross app to 30 - 45 seconds. I found this in the Advance Settings section in the Meross app. Hope that helps! Let us know. Thanks for watching!

Can you use Apple home, siri & carplay without connecting it to an Apple hub (eg. apple tv or homepod)?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no, Homekit requires an Apple Hub (Apple TV or Home Pod) to authenticate you (your Apple ID) for security purposes when away from home. If your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network, as the device, then it SHOULD work from the Home app, but I am not an expert, and this is probably not the functionality you're going for. Sorry. Hope this at least answers your question, let me know if you have any others. Thanks for watching!

7:25 how on earth do insert the wires lol I know nothing about electricity and I just cannot get the wires in
@TheGardenDefenderReviews3 ай бұрын
Not all openers are the same, unfortunately. If yours looks like mine, you’ll notice the little orange tabs above the holes for each wire, if I push on one of the tabs, it releases tension on the wire in the corresponding hole, so I can push in the new wire and existing wire, together. Older openers will likely have screw terminals that need to be loosened to wrap the wire around and then tightened back down. I hope that makes sense! If you’re nervous in any way about getting shocked, these wires are very low voltage and you wouldn’t even notice if it happened. Better to unplug the unit regardless. Let me know how it goes!

if wi-fi goes down, will you still be able to use your garage remote button or the wall mounted button?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews9 ай бұрын
Yes you will! When I first installed mine I had it connected to my house WiFi network, but the garage door blocks the WiFi signal from the house when it’s closed. I have a detached garage BTW. I had to use the remote button that came with the opener to open the door. I then connected to my garage WiFi network and it has worked flawlessly since.

Is there a way to connect it to the OEM in-car garage door opener?
@TheGardenDefenderReviews8 ай бұрын
If I understand what you're asking, you're wondering if you can connect the Meross smart garage door opener to the programmable buttons in your car, either on your rearview mirror or the overhead console? If that is the only functionality you desire, I would just follow you car manufactures instructions for controlling your garage door opener, and don't bother with this unit. But, to answer your question, I don't see any way to make this connection, at least based on my experience. The smart garage door opener is designed to integrate with smart home devices. They can be used concurrently, I do. My vehicle buttons control by door opener. But I also use a few Amazon Echos around my house and my phone on occasion. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!!
