Being Smart is checking the functionality of a product before buying it. You surely haven't. First you'd see that it's not Japanese, but Chinese. There are chips in the top and the bottom arc. Not on the sides. Extra tool won't add a lot more than NFC-tool software. And it you want te read one chip. Place it close to one of the arrows. And with a bit more searching you'd see that NFC and EMV chips are somewhat relatives. But in no way the same. NFC is just the transfer signal. RFID is the actual memory. So yes. You'll read the RFID info, using NFC technology. Credit cards use EMV chip, connecting through NFC. These are not readable/writable memories. But an advanced security chip to identify the bank account it is connected to. There rings just have programable memories where you can program commands, bussines cards, access cards etc.

Hi William, I'm looking at buying one (to replace my units access card), but from what I have read (so I may be entirely wrong here), it appears that the NFC/RFIDs are on the top/bottom arcs of the ring (indicated by the arrow heads), not on the circular edge of the ring. Could that be why you are having trouble reading the rings with your scanner/card reader? Every time you used it, you tried putting one of the circular edges toward the scanner, could you please try with one or other of the triangular arrow heads closer to the scanner, does that work or improve the read? I appreciate your review.

@@199wildman It looked to me like you scanned it flat so that its circular edges touched the scanner. I mean scan it so it is like a tyre rolling along a road. With one of the little triangle markings on the bottom of the tyre.

Hi William, Thanks for your previous reply, I watched that video again and each time you scanned it on the front and back of the scanner, you scanned it the same way, which is not the way I described. If you had scanned it the way I was describing, then when you put it on the front of the scanner and let go, it would have rolled off. Could you please try scanning it the way I described (i.e. so that it would roll off the screen if you let it go), because looking at the design of the ring, it does not seem to make sense to scan it like you are, unless there is a circular antenna along each edge. Sorry for not having a better camera angle to see the different positions I tried in the video, but you can rest assured, I tried every angle and position. I really wanted this thing to work for my credit cards. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This reader/writer you've used have antenna on bottom, where white grip attached. It will fail to read from on top all the time.

I have contacted the producers and they have confirmed that you can't use this ring for contactless payments. There is no way that you can copy your payment card in any way to this device, because bank encryption. If you want, you can buy dedicated contactless payment ring, from like iCard or something. It seems weird that every seller assures me that it is possible to pay with it, but noone can give me clear instructions how to set this thing up

No, these are simple store and read memories. No security intelligence for safe payment. These chips are unique and need to be linked to a payment account.

Just started watching and already I disagree with you. A smartwatch is useless unless you have a computer or phone to program it, set it up the first time or change settings. The smart ring is no different. You need something to set it up initially and to make changes as needed. That's not what "smart" means in this type of technology.
