PATAFA owes him a huge apology for not only giving him lackluster supporting, but also for embarrassing him. Thank you so much to EJ-your passion is really so, so inspiring. Please don’t apologize for anything, we know you’ll bounce back. Please stay healthy and rest from time to time, too. Thank you to Smart for producing these kinds of videos that help us see the athletes candidly. Looking forward to more.

While there are great filipino athletes who choose to represent other countries either because they are only half filipino, given better trainings, citizenship to be local, politics in sports here, EJ is a true Filipino at heart who chooses to hold the Philippine Flag in the world stage. You may not be given recognition as the gilas pilipinas (solid gilas pilipanas here), but you had shown a great pride of nationalism for our flag. For that, I salute you. God Bless, hope you win the gold. Laban. Puso para sa bayan.

You did great EJ, your now at #4 in the Olympics. We had seen your heart and know you can still do more. Yulo did bounce back from Tokyo and win the gold in Paris, we believe you can still win in the next one. Stay strong and have positive mindset. Filipinos see's your heart and no need to be sorry. If you still feel the need to apologize, you can do that by not giving up and being better in the next Olympics. We would still be here behind your back so keep going.

Great storytelling! EJ’s journey truly highlights the common struggles faced by Filipino athletes and his incredible triumphs over them. The opportunities he has now should be, like he said, a norm for all aspiring young athletes with great potential. Sadly, such support is often limited, and Filipino athletes often do not receive the backing they deserve. It’s uplifting to see athletes like EJ representing the Philippines on the world stage. He’s a true source of national pride and joy. The bond he shares with his coach is remarkable-it’s as if his coach is a second father to him. I’m so happy for both of them!

I'm crying the whole time I'm watching this. I've never been so proud of someone in my whole life, not even of myself. I've never been an athlete and I don't play any sports, but seeing a glimpse of EJ's hard work inspires me so much. I just want to say to you, EJ, that all of your sacrifices and hard work are not in vain. An athlete like you is our forever treasure. You make us proud not just with your achievements but with your passion and love for our country. You are the epitome and the backbone of the country's pole vaulting. You are phenomenal, extraordinary, and incredible both as a person and an athlete. Seeing you rise above those bars every time is a win for every Filipino. Nobody does it like you do-you set the bar at its highest. Thank you so much, Coach Vitaly Petrov, and to all the people who have been with EJ from the beginning. All of your dedication and hard work are seen and deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking care of and helping EJ to fly high in pursuit of his dreams and goals. It might take a little while for the whole nation to discover how amazing pole vaulting is, but I know for sure that you've opened a lot of hearts supporting and loving pole vaulting-I know it because I'm one of them. To the Philippines and those in power, it's time for us to recognize and genuinely support our athletes. After all, medals can't come home without our athletes. They all deserve an early recognition!!! I'm sorry that you've been through so much, EJ. The world can wait. I hope you have a successful recovery from your surgeries. You deserve all the best things in the world! Whatever your decision is, we've got your back! I'm your #1 fan, EJ, and will continue to be! 🫡❤️🔥🇵🇭 LABAN!

i’m here after the olympics. i mean it’s already a given that you’re a legendary pole vaulter, but as someone who’s not an athlete or anything near it, i applaud and appreciate you more now for your wisdom. not many can express and explain how they feel with so much substance. you are indeed one of a kind. also saw some clips from your press interviews, and what really caught my attention is how expressive you are with your thoughts. you’re not afraid to speak about things that may seem uncomfortable for some, but it’s actually the reality. i mean to be asked about the next steps after a major heartbreak is already a lot, more so when you’re expected to say things that people want to hear. as much as we’d want to see you win a medal in the olympics, i hope you’d take the time to process and put things into perspective. and whatever choice you make, i hope it’s a choice you made for yourself and not for others. mabuhay ka, ej! 🇵🇭
