Ok so i have no idea. On that 'new' case i put my motherboard. All is ok except that charging is not working. I double checked the wires. All wires are fine. Then i changed charging port with the one in my iPhone. Same problem. And last try, i swapped the battery and same thing not charging. Is there any chance that i have somehow damaged my motherboard and its not charging my phone. I must say that the charging port from 'new' case is working in my old iPhone case. HI Smart repair if you get a bare motherbord can you buy other parts needed to repair motherboard completely or would you have to swap over parts from old motherboard? will old parts work if the old motherboard is fried?

I'm guessing if it's fried the parts are no good. I think the best best would be to look for a good used complete one out of a parts phone or something. It's a lot of work to solder everything over from a bare one.

Thanks. No you will need a working board from a working phone. Make sure it's the carrier you need, clean serial number to work on that carrier (not blacklisted) and memory size you want and free of iCloud lock etc.

Thanks for confirming my findings. After finally sourcing a couple, the cost (more than a used 5) added to the near term obsolescence of the iPhone 5 didn't make repairing viable in the end. I reassessed and went for a cheap SE. Logic board sellers should drop their prices considering the above.

Yeah a bare one is only if you know how to do lots of soldering to move part over from your existing board. What I do is look for used boards that are pulled from a good working phone that are the memory size you want and carrier that you need and not iCloud locked.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. The logic board swap will work on any phone. You have to make sure whatever board you are replacing it with is clean to activate is all.

Yes if you replace the board with a clean one it'll get rid of that. It'll be whatever the new board is since the serial follows the board. I have a link in the video description where you can find a variety of used ones just make sure to look through them for the carrier you want and to make sure they have a clean esn or serial number. First of all, great video! I got a warning on my iphone 5 saying that it was overheated and the battery went completely broken after a couple minutes. First I thought it was the battery issue so I replaced a new battery, but it still didn't work. The screen shows Apple's logo on and off as I used the charger. Hello, thanks for your great and informative videos. that is very nice of you. I've replaced my iphone5 screen many times. However when I replaced the new screen lately, it showed a black light you can barely see it, and still you can hear the phone working, the vibrating motor and the sound when you charge the phone. I tried replacing it again and again but still no success. I made sure the flex cables are secured and connected correctly. I even tried another three new screens, they all gave the same result. what is the problem? Is it the place where the three flex cables connect to? if that is the problem what do you recommend me to do? Can I replace them or I have to change the whole logic board? Yes you will lose it if you swap it with another board. You need to back it up on iTunes first so you can put it back on the new board once you're done.

I think if you get a bare board you would have to somehow swap over all your parts to it. It requires a lot of soldering. I’m not sure that’s a good option. I’d look for a good used board perhaps.

Question, my sister got her phone wet. it shows up in itunes when you plug it in but there is nothing on the screen. it keeps making ding noises when plugged in power. I tried replacing the screen but nothing, it stops making the ding noise but screen doesn't work again. Do you think the chip on the logic board is broken? I'm not sure what else it could be

Sometimes what I've had is some of the connectors get corroded. I got a electrical connection cleaner at the auto parts that's alcohol based not grease based and a baby bristle tooth brush and carefully cleaned the connectors. That's what I would recommend first if you see any that are green or corroded looking anywhere inside the phone.

Yes if you change it to a different logic board.. Not if you are reusing the same logic board.. I would recommend backing it up to itunes either way though to be safe..

My iPhone has one problem, it restarts itself after 10 minutes of use, and it does it itself, turning the screen off, and then restarting itself. So without the circle loader thing when turning off. Could it be that changing the logic board will fix that problem.

Hi, iv taken out every single screw that holds the motherboard in place, even taken out the whole speaker, mic and charging port assembly and the motherboard still feels intact, i cannot take it out no matter where i try to pry it out. Im scared i will snap the logic board, it genuinly feels like there is still a screw or two holding it in place but i have done this many times before and i know there isnt. Iv even counted all my screws up and there is the correct number that should be when all taken out. I have no idea what do do, please help

Wow it sounds like it's really stuck. One thing you could try is using a hot dryer and applying a lil heat on the back side. Just very low temp and experiment and see if it'll loosen. Just try a lil at a time. If you're sure you got all the screws then it should give way.

Yeah ok well that's where I look through the list to see what's available. If you look for one look for the carrier you need and memory size and make sure it's clean to activate and no iCloud lock. Like I said it varies a lot what's available but sometimes there's just what you need so keep checking. That's the only place I know to find used ones.

Hello SER, I have read all the comments and replies below and I have a few questions of my own for you to kindly answer. 1 - Having an Iphone5 16G, can I install a 5C 32G or 5S 32G logic, or any 5 series iPhone for that matter? 2 - If I can't find a specific provider, can I not unlock it if everything would match or fit? (is unlocking a difficult task? its purchasing a code form what I understood) 3 - Having a phyiscal ESN one can check on a website if item is legitimate. How can I tell if an item such as logic board has "clean" ESM or IMEI numbers? I thank you in advance for your time and help with these questions. I'm sure I may come up with a few more.

Hi so none of the 5 series can interchange from my knowledge for example no your 5c Logic board won't fit in your 5 or 5s. They are all a little different. What I would recommend is looking for a good used one pulled from a phone that someone is parting out etc. the only way you can really tell if they are telling the truth about the imei number is to install it and see what the number is. But try to get it the carrier and memory size you want as well. If you get it from where I have the link in the video description they have a good buyer protection if for some reason you run into trouble with a seller that's not honest.

Yes if you can find a motherboard that doesn't have iCloud lock on it and it's clean to activate with your carrier. Sometimes ppl sell them when they break their screen etc.
