This reminded me of an old Tom we used to have. He wandered onto the farm and eventually, after giving him warm shelter outside (it was a Canadian winter) and food, he eventually made his way inside and became an indoor cat. The vet figured he was around 2 years old when we took him in to be neutered. After about 6 months of living with us, we found some tiny week old kittens who had no mama (we looked and looked). We brought them in to start bottle feeding them and everyone said "Keep the tom away from them!" But old Tom? He jumped right into the box and started cleaning them, even pulling them towards him to try and nurse them! He stood guard over that box of kittens when the dog came into the house until he was sure the dog was not going to hurt "his babies". He bonded with all of them and was sad when we found homes for them all - and happy again when we brought in another box of orphaned kittens and did it all over again. He lived with my parents for 19 years, looking after kittens whenever another box appeared. There was one special kitten he refused to let us give away - and it wasn't until about a week later that we figured out that kitten had special needs. Old Tom knew that and was going to raise him as "his own", hiding the little kitten when it came time for the others to go (we found Old Tom hiding under a bed, in front of the little one). Little Tom had similar traits to human "Down Syndrome" (though it wasn't of course - it was a head injury or something happened to the Mama while pregnant or he had suffered an illness of some sort before arriving at our farm) and Old Tom knew this and took a special love to this little guy. They were together for ten years after vets said Little Tom would likely not survive a year. Old Tom made sure he lived a good life for however long he was around. They were both great cats - but Old Tom was so special and loving towards all the kittens.

This is so beautiful ❤️ People often think that male cats are aggressive but I've found them to be the most affectionate! I guess when they don't have to fight for territory, food and mates that's when there sweet side comes out😊

That is such a lovely story and Old Tom sounds very much like Grandpa Mason of TinyKittens fame - if you have seen any of their KZbin postings of a few years ago about his love of kittens, I think you might agree!
@Quibblet2 жыл бұрын
@@familycompactthegrange7014 I remember watching Grandpa Mason, it was so endearing seeing him play with, carry and even let the kittens comfort nurse on him! Some male cats can have those parental instincts - there was one case during a fire somewhere in Oregon where they found a male cat and two stray kittens together. Cats aren't like the big cats when it comes to little ones - atleast, I hope not 100%.

Yes she obviously was habituated to humans so she probably was a dumped pet, but I'm not so sure she followed that car by accident. That lady regularly went there to feed the homeless cats, and I think this girl was smart enough to know that would be a good person to follow home. Her intelligence shows again when she brings the kittens to the lady to be fed. This lady = food source. Pretty simple really, it doesn't take extra smarts to figure that out. But still, I think this cat has a better ability to look ahead and plan than the average cat.

You're right about cats can pick who they want to share their lives with. The summer of 2018 I had a male orange cat come up on my second floor deck and touch noses with me. He was a skinny teenager so I gave him food and water. He stuck around all summer. I had taken a camp chair and made a tent for him. To keep him out of the weather and off the deck floor. By fall I got my female fixed and brought him indoors. Then had him fixed too. I had kept asking around and calling the shelter to see if anyone was missing him. Hes still with me and one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I named him George.

Just how the cat's tail comes up when she speak to it. Adorable. And of course it's a marmalade kitty! The friendliest of cats. What a smart one, too.

It's like watching a woman who isn't fortunate to have her own kids but gets to be a stepmum and treats the children like they were hers without being cruel to them..so inspiring

So we all can agree here "Cats are amazing" They never fail to amaze me with their communication skill and how much love and life they have in them. They are like that grumpy old guy who won't show any love or affection but when u need them they will jump under the truck for u.

Me and my mom feed a stray cat and kitten that lives underneath an old rental/moving truck about 10 miles from our house in an industrial area. Unfortunately they’re very timid and I think feral
@splenderella94 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's far away - very kind of you and your mom! If you can lure them out it would be safer for them, and you could get the mama cat spayed so she wouldn't get pregnant again! I adopted my cat Mitzi just before she gave birth and found homes for three of her boys and kept two...calico mom with two ginger tabbies! One of my best decisions...😍
@lemm72084 жыл бұрын
Don’t give up one of our cat was extremely skittish and feral but my mom a able to sit down during when she fed her and eventually was able to get her . Nowadays she won’t leave me mom side

Try and build up a trusting rapport with them. See if they will allow you to stroke them.That way you can trap them and bring them home.
