This works well I've been doing this for years on my car windows. You can use shaving foam on glasses too so they don't fog up when you enter a warm place from outside. Also useful for those with glasses wearing a face mask but don't use menthol shaving foam.

My suggestion is to check with your optician before doing this, as it may damage any coating on the lenses or nullify any warranty. Better to use recommended anti fog products recommended by the person that sold you the glasses. JMHO…

Another way to stop the water from condensing on your windows is to open your windows for 10 seconds (while driving)before you stop and turn off your car. This removes the warm water from the car. That removes the water from going to your windows after you park your car.
@edy50823 жыл бұрын
I have to try this
@glynhannaford73323 жыл бұрын
I have tried your system many times over the years. It helps a bit but is not a complete solution. Your idea doesn't work at all if it's raining or snowing as it lets in more moisture than it lets out. Plus, when the temperature goes much under 0°C the windows won't move!
@donschwartz83413 жыл бұрын
As long as you are not bringing snow, mud, rain, ect. in with you on the floor matts, that moisture takes some time to leave.

That wont help when it comes to actually being inside your car where your body heat and breath are the things fogging the windows. Doesnt have anything to do with water inside your car. It's condensation from warm air hitting the cold windows.

If you keep a big bag of cat litter in the back seat of your car, it helps absorb moisture and can be used if you ever get stuck and need a little more traction. Just poke a bunch of small holes in it so the air can transfer the moisture , it helps keep the moisture down in your car reducing the effect of the fog... If your stuck in the snow or ice, its also useful to spread it around your drive tires to add traction! Cat liter is nice to have with you in winter.

@@donvoll2580 Yes, i use it often. If I remember toothpaste was used to remove small scratches. This did not work for me. Maybe the scratches were too deep. We are have a cold day today & week to follow. Must be even colder up your way. Stay warm, Joe Z

So the moisture in the air goes where instead exactly?

It stays in the air and doesn’t condense on the window.

Just make sure the AC is running in cool weather , it will dehumidify the air in the cabin and eliminate the moisture that fogs the windows. If your HVAC is automatic then this will happen without your doing anything. I live in a cool very damp winter climate and have no problems with fogging. Even with a full load of wet people!!

Use an anti fog solution. This shaving cream will leave a film on your windows that when driving at night will produce a vile glare from on coming traffic lights. Open your door windows a crack and let the warm, moist air out of the car while you drive and make sure your not using the air recycling option.

Fill a stocking or cut a leg from a pair of tights, fill it with silica cat litter & place under your car seat... this absorbs moisture, preventing window misting & odours too!

I'm thinking this might work well on the side view mirrors too. I've been meaning to try as they tend to get a lot of dew on them in the morning that I sometimes squeegee off if I think about it, but they will tend to re-fog once I start driving.

Here in Britain they're pretty much standard even on low-end cars - otherwise I'd never be able to afford them!

@mandolinic Heated mirrors are definitely the answer. But they're difficult to retrofit on a modern car that didn't come with them. I'm certainly not buying a new car just to get them, so the foam trick just might be worth a try. They should be standard equipment on every new car just as airbags are. It's about safety.
