Really glad to be able to help with this. Fantastic job Izaw! This video was desperately needed, as all of our current Shulk playing guides are rather out of date or not as comprehensive heh. Thank you so much for listening to all of our input
@SSB4ShulkArchive6 жыл бұрын
Really quick thing to mention too! Many of the uair combos IzAw shares at 14:00 in are using ONLY the first hit of uair, which has fixed knockback (thus why it combos so well heh). You have to really practice your spacing and timing of uair (or use the buffered fair method IzAw is using) to land this, and keep in mind it's not typically safe on shield. Try to cross up if possible as it has surprisingly low end lag if possible to make those attempted combos safer!

What he said in the first minute and a half of the video is 100% solid facts and the reason why people find it hard to level up in this game. It's all about focusing on the right things, fundamentals, your opponent, your stage control, and taking advantage of the situation
@JasonCuletta6 жыл бұрын
I used to be a scrub in this game, I was upset that I wasn't improving and the real reason I ended up getting any better and placing in any locals is because I found a video describing the neutral. Now it seems so obvious but back then I was really just focusing on my character and what I'm doing. Now I focus on EVERYTHING; My options, my opponents positions and options, the stage, percent, everything. I am so glad that the Smash community is so helpful to one another! If you guys are reading this, you rock, and remember that everyone started where we are, ZeRo, Ally, Leffen, Hbox. They didn't wake up this good

Some corrections regarding Vision Slide: - Air to Ground method occurs when you input counter on the frame you land *during an interruptible animation*. - I feel it's important to emphasize that Grounded Vision Slide methods (Turnaround, Dashdance / Perfect Pivot) require you to counter without crouching at all. This is almost impossible to perform consistently without using C-stick set to Special. (This is somewhat mentioned in the video as text, but the text is a little hard to make out and easy to miss due to the lack of contrast.) - Air to Ground VS adds your aerial drift, Turnaround VS adds your walk speed, and Perfect Pivot / Dashdance VS adds your run speed (but only allows you to move forward). Sorry I didn't get to suggest these changes before the final video was released! Thanks so much for working closely with the Shulk community to produce this video! It came out great!

@collesque50456 жыл бұрын
I feel like shulk has the most potential for an extremly skilled player to master, as if they are good enough, it can feel like you are fighting a shulk with the combined stats of all of its arts. There is also a buff to switching arts in smash 5, which might increase its potential even further, but who can tell what nerfs have been given as well.
@tomnguyen68806 жыл бұрын
No, shulk doesn‘t unleash as much potential of a high lvl player as bayo/other top tiers. He is pretty fundamental but at the same time based on gimmicks. The more options you have, the better the character usually is. That‘s not really shulks case. And yeah btw relying on gimmicks is probably not the way to go in a long run. I play shulk myself
@Masonomace6 жыл бұрын
Shulk has more mixups and options than most characters, but it varies on your consistency with the options you have access to. Shulk in the hands of a mastermind won't go as far as a mastermind playing a top tier character simply because shulk doesn't have the highest ceiling rewarded for that performance. Depending on your playstyle, you may work exponentially hard to put out results that can reach the top, but it's a matter of how many times can you do that until you no longer feel rewarded for the huge amount of effort you put out. Plus he doesn't fit in this game. The mechanics don't exactly favor him except for his own exclusive busted techniques. But big brain does enjoy big plays, so at least shulk satisfies that rush.
@thehypist25876 жыл бұрын
Finally, an "Art of" for Monado Boy! I've been looking forward to this for a long time. His new instant Art Switch in Ultimate looks pleasing, so I hope his tech in Smash 4 carries over as well!

@MLmaster1356 жыл бұрын
the real shulks are the ones that don't use monado arts!(like me! of course the exception being if there's no choice but to use jump art) thankfully shulk's survivability is actually pretty high without monado arts equipped(and also provided the enemy doesn't use counter or gimps shulk, though monado jump can somewhat prevent being gimped, but only somewhat) also shulk's A,A part of his jab is deff brawl ike's jab as you can chain it into itself(though you can't exactly do smashes, only chain the jab, do a grab afterwards or do crouching down B. running down B could work but..it's better to use that when you're not up close)

I think it means the basic brawling kit of a character. Shulk can struggle against characters that fight up close with quicker frame data. But he can still get out of disadvantage much easier than other characters.
@floral29706 жыл бұрын
One of my hopes for Ultimate is that the universal frame data changes+a reduction of startup on his moves on top of it finally give Shulk a chance to be not entirely shit. He has a crazy fun kit, just never gets a chance to use it lol

Something I'd like to add to the Monadao Arts: The attack and defence buffs/nerfs also play out on how much damage the shields of Shulk and his oponents take in. Example: Buster increases the damage Shulk receives and deals. Therefor he can break shields or lose his shield much faster. I know that this was mentioned at about 4:40 with "Shield", I just wanted to make it clear that all Arts have such an effect. Still a great video. You're awesome IzAw!!
@Masonomace6 жыл бұрын
i BIN hardcore labbers have tried this at first because on paper, that would make sense. However, I'm letting you know that the weakened defense doesn't mean he loses his shield health faster. Having less defense doesn't affect shield damage lossed.
@iBIN_VA6 жыл бұрын
Okay, I just checked on that. Thanks for the correction.
