Smash Bros Lawl MAD Update Patch 1

DAMN this took longer than I thought it would. To be real, life has been a pain in the ass this past two (2) years and now that the hassle's died down I'm hoping I can start putting more time into MAD as a whole. Also before I get a ton of comments about how FS's aren't touched on, I want to make a separate video about them, there's a lot I wanna change about them.

Hot damn, this is an incredibly amazing video! It served as a great reminder of why MAD is such a great Lawl. As a veteran in the Lawl scene, seeing these characters from so many years ago get touched up to become new and viable absolutely brought a tear to my eye. Some of the changes were truly amazing, like Gay Luigi's misdirection counter, Sabrina's Neutral B becoming a trap move, UDK finally stopping being a joke character to look like a character that's actually fun to use... though I think the crown in terms of updates goes to Mormon Jesus. The original moveset was okay, but the fact so much of it was based on an unseen mechanic definitely aged the moveset poorly. With it explained now, specially in such an amusing way (listing the sins in old English like the Ten Commandments was such a neat idea, and so was the look of the Mormonism meter).

This update patch shows how far you've come since the very beginning of Lawl MAD, and I really like it for that reason. I do like all the updates made to improve Gay Luigi and have it give more variety to his moves (ex: Misdirection has effects depending on its position), and especially how UDK is made a lot more viable by becoming a Risk-Reward type character. I also like the addition of Mormon Jesus' "Mormonism" mechanic used on opponents that harms them the more they harm Mormon Jesus (ex: taunting or KOing him). As for the new reveals, I'm looking forward to them all, but especially Squidward (he's the one SpongeBob character who deserves a great moveset), Hotel Mario, and Leo (The Magic of Oz is a relatively obscure short but is known for its infamy, leading to interesting results), as well as all three villains shown at the end. Additionally I enjoyed the Banjo-Kazooie style banter with Sabrina and Bison announcing the newcomers. Definitely looking forward to see what else Lawl MAD has in store for the future!

Every bit of this is so damn sweet, I might need insulin. The improvements to old characters, the revision of UDK, the interesting new stages and stage revisions, the fresh roster aesthetic, and those reveals just make this worth every second of waiting for and I'm eager to see the stuff on the horizon.

Lawl MAD is the Lawl I respected a lot but knew had a lot of imperfections to it. I love its roster, but the older movesets were not great.

An update patch for most fighting games is usually reserved as, or viewed as mainly for the characters who’re in need of buffs, alterations, or nerfs. For Lawl however, this is very much a different case. From the Lawls aesthetic to its lore, to the roster cast and stage design. Lawl Mad is a shining example of this, man.

Hooo, doggy! This was worth the wait! Even though I don't remember it being announced. But whatever. Anyways, first things first, I love the new roster. The old one's been out of date since...honestly, since before this series even began. :P As for the updates themselves, I was really pleased with all these updates, especially the updates for Linkara, UDK and the Mormon JEEZUS!

My favourite updates have gotta be Gay Luigi's counter (why on earth did I suggest this to be a taunt again?), the retirement of those stance and lag functions in the respective characters' moves, Sabrina's trap functions and midair trampoline recovery, the acknowledgement that little girls don't really belong in joke movesets and best to last, the Mormonism rule details finally being revealed! Glad to see you're adding Squidward (a character I've wanted since way back when YTPguy was a thing). The idea of another Hotel Mario moveset actually makes sense to me if you want an unpopular opinion. Believe it or not, I'm actually glad you're planning Konata as long as you're clearly passionate about this source. Leo also really fits since you already have your history with non-Lawl Chincherrinas characters. But I agree that all three of those silhouettes are even more hype than those who were officially mentioned (except Squidward, he's about the same anticipation-wise). Happy to see you return once again and I will be hyped regardless of hiatuses!

Rly liked this video. The way you improved Gay Luigi especially made me very happy. That moveset rly needed work and I’m glad you turned him into a much better and viable character. The animation especially is soo clean now. Glad you chose a much better video to sprite Gay Luigi since before the sprites were very crusty.
