Don't forget the blueprint all these trailers are based on, the once in a lifetime event known simply as The Subspace Emissary. Sakurai was already in his bag with making each character introduction hype. These trailers were just weaponizing it.

smash trailers were always the highlights of my week as a kid, i remember being in 4th grade class, tuning into a smash announcement in computer class and screaming YES, freaking out, then getting kicked out of class.

This video is spot on. Smash needs epic Story w/these cutscenes. Add unlockable costumes, balance roster w/updates, & it’ll be objectively Greatest Game of All Time.

I didn’t give a hoo ha for Sephiroth.. But GOD DAMN THAT REVEAL IS INSANE!! THE EFFECTS, THE MARIO FAKE OUT, THE MUUSIC, THE FIGHT SCENES! AH MAH GOD

I remember when i had a math test but the nintendo direct was going on. I watched that instead and i watched steve go into smash bros in the middle of a math test, it was a magical moment

LOL I remember literally jumping backwards when Sora was revealed, trying desperately to suppress my scream with both hands locked on my mouth hard 😂. It was literally one of those moments where, when the trailer finished, I had to reflect and think, "A game got this reaction out of me." And that initial high lasted for like 2 weeks

I just wish Etika were here to see the second fighter pass. min min, steve, sephiroth and sora. it’s like it was made for him. and ik his reactions woulda been hype.

For me it will always be Super Smash Brawl, while a late entry to the game, the introduction of fleet feet running in and kicking Mario out of the way like "IM HERE" Sonics introduction to smash, Snake was big but hes originally a Nintendo character, but Sonic we had begged for him since Melee... and here he was... playing through the story we all had our thoughts when they would introduced him... we knew he was a late add to the game... and were getting to the end of the story, and just as Tabboo was about to end the Smash team in pops a blue blur to save the day.

Smash brawls was a big part of my childhood mostly cause me and my older brother played the whole story together, then the times when I played with my older brother & sister and younger brother, plus cousin, was probably the most fun I had playing with family and laughing at just dumb stuff, one was just a picture my older cause took while 5 of us played it and it what Luigi just getting hit by the banana but we laugh so hard
