Oh yeah. They should have killed Rishi as soon as he said he checked Scar and Axe. At that point he was a fake cop or a really bad one. Even Leffen asked why he didnt check him or Hbox. The mindgame was that Rishi guessed 2 easy towns and made it seem like they were sus like him. Leffen was really sus for me because he never really went in on anyone, even though he was town leader. That's something Leffen usually does. When he said they should kill Scar before Bananas in the last round is when Bananas became sus too. And Shab should have been killed earlier because he didnt say shit throughout the whole game.

After knowing that the medic was dead, the town should've wonder why leffen was still alive. They all knew that he wasnt getting saved and he was a valuable player. The fact that it wasnt brought up once was the reason they lost, imo. That's a great point I hadn't thought of, mafia never keeps trusted town alive. Leffen had everyone so eating out of his hand that they didn't question that for a second or how Rishi -had- to have picked at least one mafia with his checks. Big Lef indeed.

Specifically leffen being the first to jump hard on rishi as the fake was a very very strong play. Also if mafia had the double tap power I'm sure they would have used it on the round after axe was killed which would've made the game even more interesting.

the very beginning of the video made me realize how much of a social scene melee is. we look at these people like professionals but they seem more like a core group of people that has known each other fairly well for years, almost a decade at this point. it makes me realize that if melee revolves around the social dynamic as this group, it will only last in this way as long as they stay friends.

What an awesome round. I feel like the town kills on Swedish and Axe were both both extremely weak, but I guess when you've got 4 mafia alive it's much easier to deceive town to follow a poor vote. This was definitely Leffen's victory, but Rishi did a great job playing his part.

they voted axe because Rishi "checked" Axe and Scar when he claimed to be cop. Leffen stated that since Rishi was mafia, he would have "checked" another mafia member to make it seem like the mafia were town. When this notion appeared, Scar got nervous and pointed his finger at Axe and since Scar is a reliable town member with lots of charisma, they went with it. And since Axe was really town, and the notion still lived that one of them was mafia, Scar was next and it was all over. I agree that Axe was weak, but Leffen played that game like a fiddle.

I freaking love Mafia at Summit and always really look forward to it happening, but just a comment towards whoever is the mod (assuming it’s still @Slime) as it could very likely actually affect future games... when the town is voting, the majority should be decided by the amount of voters, not the number of alive people. In other words, when they’re being voted against, that person does not count as a townsperson. There were quite a few times in this game where there were an even number of people, requiring (for example) 8/14 people to vote against a person whereas there were actually only 13 voters, requiring 7 votes... it sounds insignificant, but from personal experience, every vote absolutely counts. 8/13 is a BIG majority (over 60%) and that can really change the flow of the game. That is all :)

That's not true. Votes should be decided by a majority of alive people. In the situation in which there are four people and two are town while the other two are mafia, mafia are supposed to win. If voting were to be decided by the number of voters, town would win in this situation because the two town members could vote on a mafia member and that would be a majority.

Ludwig threw this game, imo. I think he was a little too belligerent, which drew heat off Leffen. Furthermore, his only solid reason for doubting Scar was that Rishi chose him as one of his fake-cop picks. Leffen explicitly stated that Rishi would definitely use the opportunity of claiming fake cop to protect a mafia member. Leffen is way too good of a mafia player not to realize the strategic short-term and LONG-TERM benefits of naming two townspeople in a fake-cop claim. In the short term, you have two townspeople who are more likely to believe you are town, and in the long term, you cast doubt on two townspeople when you are eventually found out. If Ludwig hadn't been so belligerent and bought this line wholesale, someone might've been able to press Leffen on this. I also don't appreciate that he kept harping on how much Scar was talking, because everything Scar was saying made sense and was helpful. If they had killed Bananas that round, Leffen's still being alive would have been a huge red flag and they might've had a shot at the game. It would be a huge uphill battle because of how deeply entrenched the belief that he was town had become.

Leff did a really good job with acting as town, everything he said was town-esque and it's the standard play for someone like him, hbox, or mango who are good talkers. No matter what their role is, they play a role like town mayor, and then make their plays with long cons & late game moves, but for the first rounds they always act town, and while I give this credit because it is not easy - Leff didn't MVP this game. The Rishi double town fake cop claim was a MVP play, because it let a narrative spin off that. The meta of these mafia games are usually 1 tier mindgames, so it was very easy to believe that either axe or scar was mafia and RIshi was using the claim to cover one of his own. The other mvp for Mafia was Scar, I think he totally misplayed what he was trying to explain, near the end I did agree with Hbox that scar getting really emotional was up the alley of him as town. He was put in a difficult situation and almost got to say the things he would have needed to in order to save his life, but Ludwig kept telling him to shut up, which killed his train of thought. He was really close to explicating why Rishi would choose two town as mafia, but he got shut down. At the very least, he was being the most logical and clear-sighted person of any of the town players in the last round; Ludwig, Bananas, and Shab as mafia was the most accurate assessment of any of them *especially* considering that Ludwig was super duper throwing the game trying to get scar killed and being unwilling to hear anything to the contrary of his beliefs.

@@robertchoi1930 Super late but think about it from Ludwig's pov. He'd been trying to nominate Rishi before he even fake claimed cop. The moment he actually straight up nominates Rishi, he's told by Scar to rescind that nomination for no real particular reason. Also, after he fake claims cop, Rishi said two people were clear (Scar and Axe). If you believe he's actually mafia, it's not a far jump to assume at least one of the people Rishi cleared is Mafia. Once everyone got on the train that Axe was town after he was eliminated, it was just too much evidence against Scar in Ludwig's mind that Scar had to be Mafia. It's much different from Toph who appeared to just have a random read at the beginning and seemingly never got off that read until the end when he didn't vote Scar.

Fake cop (aka rishi) said he checked Axe and Scar and both were innocent. Since he was mafia, he knew who was who and chose two innocent town to give himself credibility as potential cop. I don't know how he did it, but Leffen somehow implanted to notion that since Rishi was fake cop that one of the people he checked were also mafia since Rishi was mafia and he was trying to make it seem like one of the mafias were town (Axe and Scar) to fool the town. Since Axe was killed and since they still had two kill power, Leffen steered the group towards Scar as potential mafia. This play is pretty fucking legit and that rationale is probably what made the rest of the town vote for Scar.

I actually got all 4 mafia members.I thought Leffen was mafia from day 1 because of that little interaction with Mango, and how he was very eager to kill someone.I got Shab because of how less he talked this round compared to yesterday.I wasn't sure about if Rishi was telling the truth or not,but I figured he was fake cop when he didn't really defend himself before he died.Normally the cop would try harder to stay alive.I wasn't sure between Axe/Bananas,but then I knew it was bananas based on how hard leffen tried to kill scar first.

I was SUPER sus of Leffen from round 1, just because he was playing as a SUPER effective town leader but never got capped by Mafia even though he should have been an easy kill if he was town. Shab and Bananas made themselves much more obvious, as did Rishi, although his fake cop play was super effective at creating confusion and drawing suspicion to town. As someone who is by no means a Big Leff fan in Melee, I've gotta say he has got to be the best mafia player in the community. He was looking ENORMOUS in this round.

They need to study game theory. Nash equilibrium; they should have all voted their second most sus in the last round of votes. They couldn’t agree on most sus so they all should’ve voted second most. It sounds counterintuitive but I think it makes sense.

I think at that point in the game excluding reads, the lines of logic pointed to scar (voted for swedish, implicated in the fake cop call teammate cover thing from Rishi). Plays needed to happen before hand (mango saved by medic, killing rishi before axe forcing different kills on that night, people noticing how long leffen is living and then asking who's the medic and how the hell is leffen alive)

I could write a whole essay on why I had the 100% read on Leffen. It was good play by him but it was too good. He even threw once just a little bit when Scar said that Leffen had to be a godtier liar if he was mafia but everyone knows that he very well could be. Then he admits himself that yeah he could never be that good of a liar while not able to contain his big smile. No one noticed but Leffen is too big of an ego to admit something like that. That alone was fucking sus and I’m suprised noone caught that.
