Yes, Smash, your favorite fish is also very popular in Hawaii. As you probably know it is not a memeber of the mullet family, but of the goat fish family. In HI its called Weke(pronounced Veke). It uses its "whiskers"to feel thru the sand etc and find/feed on small crustaceans, shrimp and gobis etc. P.S. there are many members of the goatfish that are prized from the reefs and sand holes in the Islands.

Smash did you make a new foraging hook out of an old screwdriver handle with different gages or did you borrow that from Matt? Love the look of Red Mullet meat. Reminds me of pickerel meat.👍🇨🇦

@@SMASHFISHING i only ask as i know an ex trawler captain who has been running fishing charters for years here in wales who said his boat had ice making with salt water, he also said that they never put the fish in contact with fresh water after they caught them ? ive dry aged bass for 2 weeks and it was amazing

@@MatthewJames-yt6ig lol yet you are still watching, not sure what you expect from a channel about Foraging, fishing on a boat and cooking what he catches, maybe you can ask some videos about stuff you want to watch like maybe make up and shoes or a review for paint we can all watch dry. next you will be complying that Mr Fishlocker is just always a bit of fishing on a boat and some snorkelling and the odd bit of cooking lol
