I really like Makwahurt's design! Just to to go on a tangent, tho, since I'll never pass up an excuse to talk about Mesoamerica, I't say the Macuahuitl is more of a sword then it is a club: It's a pedantic distinction (again, i'm just wanting to nerd out a bit), but in the context of Mesoamerican weaponry, there's a lot of other more clearly club and mace like weapons: Wooden batons, clubs studded with stone points, spherical headed maces, morning-star like maces, etc, but the Macuahuitl is fairly distinct from these and sword as a bladed slashing weapon, which is reflected in the Aztec calling Spanish swords "metal macuahuitl" and Conquistadors calling Macuahuitl swords too. The best documented museum specimen also had blades flush with one another, forming a single continuous cutting edge (as seen in sketches of it, the Madrid Royal Armory Specimen) and a relatively thinner wooden core, which also more clearly shows it as a sword rather then a club, in contrast to stylized pictoral depictions with show eaggerated gaps between the blades (though surely there would be variations that had larger gaps too). I'd also point to how there are similar weapons, such as the "Glaive" version of the Macuahuitl on a pole-staff seen in the Codex Rios, or the broader, more pointed Macuahuitl type weapons seen in some Mixtec codices, that blend the Macuahuitl's features with slashing and thrusting polearms. You could argue that they're on a spectrum that the Tepoztopilli on the far polearm end of: It likewise was lined with blades and Like the Mixtec Macuahuitls (there's a specific term for the Mixtec ones but I lost track of it) it had a spade shaped head, but the Tepoztopilli is pretty unambiguously a spear, though still thought to be used for slashing as well as thrusting like a halbred. There was a surviving Tepoztopilli in the Royal Madrid armory alongside the Macuahuitl, but sadly both were destroyed in a fire in the 1800s (at least allegedly, some of the samurai armor they were photographed and sketched alongside is still around!).

I could definitely see Mak'wahurt having some sort of ancient rivalry/shared hatred with a Pokemon like Garchomp. Both have this fierce aura about them but in different waays. Garchomp is graceful and sleek, choosing to beat its opponents with finesse and skill. Whereas Mak'wahurt has almost a feral fighting style, using brute force and never-ending tenacity to strike down its foes and leave nothing behind. These two would face off in territory battles that could blast away forests into nothing but shambling ruins.

Love the art of all of these! These monthly challenges make me want to be a good enough artist to be able to participate in one Also, balance-wise, Mak'Wahurt would be a monster on the battlefield but not unbalanced. It has some pretty big weaknesses, eg. very low special defense and a 4x weakness to fighting, but slap a crit chance item onto it and it dishes out 100% critical stone edges off a 150 attack stat. I'd really want to use it in a playthrough!
