I am not a speedrunner myself, but I like that there are so many different people making content about speedrunning with very different styles and perspectives, this is what got me interested in the topic. Actually, I have a background in CS and I am studying a little bit about neural networks and deep learning and, of course, I would like to build a system that plays video games. This is an amazing concept. Cant wait to see this tech getting shown off at a running event. Its so very interesting to see the runs literally side by side sharing the same screen. I was able to explain to my dad, who knows very little of speedrunning, what was going on between the multiple marios in a way that a conventional multidisplay race of replay simply cannot show.

@@darkness74185 like 7 frames in 1-1, 7 in 1-2, 2 in 4-1, 20 in 4-2, 3 in 8-1, 4 in 8-2, like 2 in 8-3, 14 in 8-4 over a perfect human 8-4 (which hasn't quite yet been performed), which is 57 give or take a few frames, that's about a full second

Also, for 4-2, you might want to add Kriller37 for finding a more reliable setup for Lightning 4-2 with the world's first 4-2 top clip HappyLee style, which saves 2 frames over the standard lightning 4-2 trick, and you don't have to do a fast acceleration in the warp zone. Doing it will barely make the framerule.

The assigned colors are at the very top of each level. The TAS is always grey and Miniland is always white.

One suggestion: you could make it so that coins disappear on the screen once any of the displayed players collects them. Not sure if there are other game elements that could also be synchronized this way, but coins have no real impact and I think it would look nicer.

You're absolutely right, it's part of what I hope to address in my refactoring / clean up. There are several foreground elements which can disappear. (Coins, blocks which are being bumped, bowser's bridge, the axe).

I dunno if you're trolling or not, or you're just not following SMB1 speedruns that closely, but with current knowledge, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get 4:53, even by L+R TAS. No L+R TAS gets 4:54.265 and the only improvement made here recently was 1 frame in turnaround room by Maru and we dunno if we'll ever find something new ever. I think for now more consistent lightning 4-2 is the thing to be looking for.

What no. The L+R TAS is a 4:54.03. It is 1 frame away from a framerule in 1-1and 4-2, but those would be L+R only as L+R fast accels save significantly more time already

@@lilseb3436 In this game, there is no distinction. There is nothing the TAS does to save time that the humans could not match that doesn't involve pressing left and right on the same frame. If there were a room-by-room SOB, it would match the no L+R TAS exactly, or it might lose exactly one frame. Even that frame is not impossible for a human to save.
