I don’t wanna say that the entire flex fuel kit from cobb or any other manufacturer is useless at the moment. It still has fuel lines, it still has a mount, it still has a GM ethanol sensor. Can actually get a standalone gauge to monitor your ethanol content, plug it into the ethanol sensor and use that to tune for your duel map, and to be sure that it is indeed the correct mixture of fuel before switching your maps. Just my two cents on the matter. As for cobb issuing a refund I highly doubt that they will do that but I think when they develop the new wiring harness they should honor either a trade back of the old wiring harness or something along those lines
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
IMO your better off returning it and piecing together a kit for less than half the price. (But that also depends on if people have them in box still or installed) Surprisingly enough they have been refunding people if the sensor was purchased in the last 12 months 🔥

I really wish more people whould watch this instead of screaming into internet oblivion over things they choose to not look into. Sadly from what I have seen there are not many Open Source tuning availabilities for us FA20 guys. But I am sure this will drive the need for it and it will happen. As for Cobb Flex, I am currently tuned with FBO, so sadly it will effect me if I get the chance to go built block. But MAYBE we will get lucky and they will find a way to utilize the Flex kits we have with harness adaptors or rewire. I dont know enough about the electronics to know if thats viable though. Cobbs handling of the flex kit was donkey balls. But none of it would have happened if the EPA would target the companies that literally pay to pollute instead of targeting the car communities.

I have been stacking parts for a few months I'm about 6K deep into my parts pile. In that parts pile is a entire fuel system "TGV deletes for a top feed rail" for some 1050 injectors and a cobb flex fuel kit with the fuel pressure sensor that i bought the week before they discontinued it with no knowledge that was ever happening. I felt lucky the week after that I was able to get them before they were gone, not knowing that they were going to make them useless. and of course they waited just long enough between them discontinuing them with telling nobody what was going on and any kind of return window. Timing was just right on their part to screw over anyone just like me that just invested into all these fuel system mods. I understand that Cobb has pressure from the epa and i can see how it may be necessary to discontinue selling certain parts to please the EPA, However I can not understand how they thought it was ok to screw over their customers the way they did, for example they could of discontinued selling parts and left the tune ability for parts they have sold and moved forward with new parts being cold carb compliant, every body could understand that. I have been a long time Cobb customer on several builds of my own and have recommended them for years to others. I have many cobb parts on my car like the titanium catback. Regardless of what cobb does from this point forward I will never run anything cobb again. and I will be removing all cobb parts from my car.

Very informative for someone new to this platform🔥Do you think if i stop updating my accesstuner software and keep it on the same version from now on if it will avoid me from making a switch ?

My secondary air pump has been dead since the car hit 60k 😂🤣. I hit 155k and not looking back. Open source is back on the table. I have been thinking I can put the pump, pipes and valves with an orifice that makes it thinks is working🤔. Same with the tgv, cut the housing and leave the last bit dangling on the back of the block 🤔. They will move and have feedback. Back to the piggy back ECM days of turboxs computers.

I made my own secondary air pump delete kit and I had to dissect the sensor out from it and keep it plugged in and I didn't get a CEL. There are ways to do it!
@bluewffl84722 жыл бұрын
Just plug the tgv motors into the harness....if they can rotate just the valve motor spindle shouldn't throw codes....least on older ones

Ive owned 3 STI's and never used a COBB AP once, they seem pretty popular in america.
@CWB-uk9vw2 жыл бұрын
Anyone else remember the TGV delete kits from APS back from like 02-03? They kept the the TGV motors and sensors and just moved them to a bracket to the ECU thinks they are still in the intake but they are actually tucked up under the manifold... guess I need to get busy building some brackets lol

"All this affects is your ability to delete O2, EGT, TGV, EGR, catalytic converters, secondary air pumps, and you cant run flex fuel" So pretty much everything someone would want to get into light mods to get an extra 150whp on their slowbaru. "You can still make 500hp on an accessport" like someone aiming for 500hp isn't putting down the money for a standalone ecu. Cobb did their customer base dirty with this and showed how weak they are. Instead of fighting like all of the small tuners and helping the cause, they just said "Govern us more Daddy!" And they didn't even leave an option to not update the software, like they could have just done that and no one would have been mad, but no, they deleted half of their functionality. I'm glad I got out of the Subaru game when I did cuz their new cars are trash and the aftermarket support just went to shit. Forced update/planned obsolete garbage. I don't get how y'all aren't heated. I don't even have a Subaru or an accessport anymore and I'm fuming. I'm wishing you all luck in finding another reasonable tuning solution.

I was behind the curve and heard about this yesterday from a buddy and first thing I did was call my tuner when the shop opened up. Time to go stand alone and save up extra cash to just go full blown build because any other work seems like “the juice isn’t worth the squeeze” like just adding a flex kit.

What I'd like to know is what software dyno tuners use that seemingly works on EVERYTHING. like for a hub dyno. Hopefully this will push open source dev's to make a better and more user friendly interface. Then again the Subaru ecu is a caveman ecu compared to acura, I've always said this since I started running with my 02 rsx type-s.

u so smart. I am glad I can still follow the "how to make xxx-whp" video to get to 350, but I do feel bad for anyone who gets boned by this. Thanks for clearing it all up though! I was worried the cobb catted downpipe was trash now, phew.

If you have the mods, you can still get the tune, sans flex fuel for now. The main issue is your cel will come on if emissions parts aren't working and your cruise won't work. If you go for an inspection, and have a cel, you may not get a sticker. The only thing that bugs me is no cruise. 😆 Luckily my daily is Cobb and the impreza is haltech...and my tuner does both. Curious to see how the Cobb tune goes.

Honestly this is not that big of a deal from a tech perspective (any shadiness from Cobb's handling aside). Before Hondata ran a plug-and-play harness in the ODB-II port you had to send in your ECU to get modded with a USB port. From there you plugged a laptop directly in. I had a modded RSX with an Acer Aspire One mounted in the glovebox - way more gauges and data logging on-board, and the OBD-II port can still be used even over bluetooth to push stats to your phone if you want a "small screen" you can live glance at.
