That is definitely the most 'intense' part of this-The whole song, lyrically & musically is incredible. When neighbor boy runs up to me...I cry. *I dream of life where I am safe, in a home where I am not alone The song reminds me of my childhood-not beaten. but tension, silence, neglect, anger,hate, empty eyes. It makes me sad when he meets the boy & believes that there must not be ANY good place to 'lay me down' - no safe place-THERE IS, you know-but U have to grow up & make it yourself.

I feel the same way. My son died 9/06 at 15. If I didn't think he still existed 'somewhere' I might not make it. He was a devout christian, tho I NEVER had gone to church. I forced nothing on him & answered all his questions, talked to him about current events, etc. I wanted him to be well informed & make his own decisions for his own happiness.He asked about God, at 2 years. 1st Baptist, then studied Catechism & converted to Catholic at age 14. He often shamed me into doing THE RIGHT THING

I used to listen to this song when the cd first came out and just cry because it was so true- everyone is so messed up and life is so hard. But please if you read this know that there is only one place you can go to see things made right. Jesus Christ took me and gave me hope for tomorrow. When my dad left God was with me the whole time even though I didn't see him. God led me to friends who loved me and showed me why they could. Jesus died on the cross to take my pain and shame and yours.

To all the people talking about God- QUIT BAGGIN ON PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO BELIEVE IN GOD!!! You don't have to believe it, but don't make someone feel bad for beliving it! Maybe beliving in God males them feel BETTER about that crap that has happened in their lives. Just because someone believes in God that doesn't mean that they're weak. And lo and behold Jesus was the one thing that has ever filled it. @KyranKandosa these are the same things that the leaders of the past did, but now it's done in the name of democracy. The truly faithful have hardly ever been rich and powerful anyway. Jesus himself was poor and chose to reveal himself to the lower parts of society. I am right there with you when you say that the things done in the name of religion are sickening. But the true God of this world, the one that loves you no matter what you say about him on these posts, he is worth living for.

I know it might be hard to accept, but when Jesus died on the cross it was for your pain and it was for all of our mistakes. When I accepted Christ He literally took my pain and hurt and replaced it with joy. God never promised things would be perfect, he said they would suck (matthew 5:11). @KyranKandosa Good point. Unfortunately, since Constantine in Rome, lots of people have used Christianity for their purposes and said that Jesus told them to do it. And yes, the church during the time leading up to the enlightenment did seem to prevent free thought. I would venture to say that it was men who, now having the technological advantage of guns, etc..., claimed they were going on a holy mission, but really only wanted to take land from the well-meaning people throughout the world.

For me personally, if I didn't believe in Heaven, and that my mom and dad are both there being taken care of by someone who knows their every need and want without having them tell him, I wouldn't be able to go on. For all the people that have been killed in the name of religion, think of all the ones who have been killed over free thought and progress! WWI and WWII, Vietnam, Korea, etc... are not wars fought over religion, and yet they killed millions more than any crusade! And (with the exception of WWII)for what? Land, power and money.

His disciples were so convinced that they saw him raised from the dead that they spent their whole lives telling people about it and died for it. @jeffking2100 Histories wars from well before christianity existed have been over religion, and people have been killed in the name of religion which in 90% of cases is called righteousness, which is wrong, just right by THEIR religion, and much of the world resorts to it. and I have read "The Case for Christ". Please don't assume that because you are close minded everyone else is. I just also take into account science and fact, which are you know, logic.
