Interesting project just subscribed, the engine sounds pretty quiet when you started it. Looking forward to more content and I’m looking at your previous videos too.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who has hassle when using the Halfords weld through primer.

I'm a welder fabricator for 25 years and you are doing a good job on them engine and gearbox mounts wat made you to put a BMW engine in a transit?? 👍

Thanks so much.. the original engine is just so loud and I got the bmw cheap so thought I would just do it,, I love a challenge,,, I’m also doing a full body swap on a ford escort to RWD convert it

Misfits garage UK just put a video out about the m57 air box that removed it completely and fitted a breath witch is like 15 20 quid might be worth a look if u don't want to modified firewall

Coulda used 6mm flat to make the mounts - original studs would reach through, same shape, just flat iron welded to the original mount. Dunno if you are mad, too much time to hand or brave doing this conversion - but I like it regardless. :-)

I just really like the design of the mounts,, It’s taking a lot longer than originally anticipated but I’m going much more into it than I intended.. it will be fantastic when finished though

@@NicksGarageUk I'm just lazy/overworked - one of those - so I always look for the least effort solution. :-) I do stupid stuff to customers transits where someone ought to have said "No!" but didn't - so this is right in my wheelhouse. "Can this be done, J?"... Yeah.. probably...

Gearbox cradle looks good, welds definitely don't look pretty. Are you on pub gas ? 1mm steel for the engine mounts seems a bit thin. Personally I think 3mm box section may of been better choice

Box was 2mm,, I was mixed up 2” x 1” I use a fire extinguisher for gas,, I can get the welds spot on with it normally but struggled with positioning under the truck then again with the weld through primer,,

Those engine mounts need to be triangulated those welds will crack in no time

Another great video Nick. I would have additionally used a gusset plate to bridge between the two pieces of box at around the centre point on each side. Only time and use will reveal the effects of vibration and metal fatigue, but overall a good set up. 👍 Nice one. Looking forward to the next video.
