SMITE is similar to DoTA gameplay but instead of being above the action you are IN the action. Close third-person camera instead of RTS view. Move with WASD instead of clicking on a map. Detailed graphics and visual FX. Action combat, dodging, and AIMING. Everything is a skill-shot. Free-to-Play but not pay-to-win.

I found a great strategy to use for Anhur what I usually do is use shifting sands then try to impale them to into the obelisk then as they try to run away I would use disperse and attempt to launch them back towards my team mates if they are there.

Pillar of filth doesn't make you deal bonus damage. Condemn doesn't damage and pass through minions. Rocket jump doesn't knock enemies away, it slows them. Pray and spray buffs the auto attacks, Desert fury is a usable spell.

To be fair, SMITE uses a lot of elements from LoL that were not in DotA. Cases in point - Recall, Ability Power, Cooldown Reduction, Magic Penetration, All heroes having a 5th passive ability that does not need leveling, the fact that you can have the same heroes on both teams, etc.

I'd like some feedback on this idea: They have Ymir in the game, the king of the frost giants, and that makes me wonder that even though the Fire Giant is the big mob, do you think we can expect to see Surtr, King of the Fire Giants in Smite any time soon? I think he would be a really cool addition. In mythology I believe he is supposedly stronger than Ymir and perhaps larger, so that would make for a pretty interesting character.

I can already foresee Smite being a big thing on E3 one day. Like WoW and LoL level of fame. This game just looks awesome. I've played this but I gave up on it because I can't catch up to its complexity. But I can't wait to watch Smite games in such a competitive level. :)

If your lagging in game its most likely from your computer performance or internet connection. I generally do not have problems due to server lag. Try lowering you in game video settings it may solve your problem; also check your ping using Pingtest.com. :)

Read a thread by Hi-rez on the forums which says that they will be increasing the favor per match by 10-20 % in return, just makes me wonder why they didn't do it in the same patch.

Technically it's Sekhmet, but Anhur actually is the god of war in Egyptian mythos. Sekhmet was a warrior goddess, not the goddess of war. She was also a daughter of Ra alongside Bastet.

Alot of people assume that Anhur is just a legend rather than a god, they think Sekhmet is the actual god, so that may be why. Also the time differences between the two and who they were worshipped under.

Actually, Guan Yu is a god, he was deified during the Sui dynasty and is still worshipped today. Arachne gets leeway for being a character from Greek Mythology, and at least being similar to her original incarnation. On the other hand, Kratos from God of War has no resemblance to his mythological namesake whatsoever.

Also the christian pantheon is working with omnipotent supernatural beings. Smite deals with gods/beings bound to a certain aspect of nature which grants them a limited power even in their original myths.

I play league and now Smite, and both games are based on DoTA so it matters not what features are similar. What separates the two is the theme, and the fact that one is 3d landscapes while the other is 2d. Both games have they're own benefits and are good games. ppl who whine about 1 thing or another have not been around enough to know better.

i have always been wondering, why use this god instead of the more wide-spread, known and worshipped by ancient egyptians Sekhmet (most likely written wrong) which was depicted with head of a lioness a very brutal and gory goddes of war if i recall right?(i know its an old video).

Oh it's quite alright, most people don't know because the Egyptian myths are almost never talked about, people will use Greek, Roman, or Norse instead.

I have a feeling they wont make Ares since he is the god of war for the Greeks. Having 2 gods of war might not be something they want. Maybe they are looking at all of them and choosing the most interesting one out of which are available. Maybe they'll add him later when there are way more gods but I'm kind of doubting it.

Ra was never a pharaoh. Though immensely powerful, he remained a static god, and didn't interfere with mortal affairs. Osiris was the first pharaoh.

On ranged gods you can play safe and with death toll every basic hit you land recovers some mana and hp. People would rather have mana for initiating because they know they won't need HP pots ^^

Ok, This may sound queer but I'm convinced to start playing Smite simply after discovering you can use the obelisk as a functional wall. (To proc stun from spear or what-not.) May seem like a little thing but keep in mind you can't condemn someone into an Anivia wall. This shows me the game devs paid attention to detail with neat combos in gameplay design!

In Japanese transliteration, an i is pronounced like the double ee in bee, not as a long i. So it should be pronounced ta-bee. Also since we have Japanese items, does that mean we'll be seeing some Japanese deities as well later? It'll be interesting to see the art for gods like oo-kami, the wolf god who is actually wolf shaped, not chimeric, or Amitsu-Mikaboshi, the god of all evil.

Limiting yourself to a few pantheons seems a bit constrictive. Yes, there are plenty of neat gods/ mythological figures in these pantheons, but there are plenty of other options. I'd also like to draw attention to the fact that Ra, Anhur, Guan Yu, Vamana, and the recall animation use the same flat lurid orange color in their particle effects. I don't know what else to say other than, "It's very, very orange."

Pretty sure we aren't following the gods only idea. a few of characters aren't gods already, just as long as they played an important role in any religion they are eligable to be in game. i do not think that christian/catholic pantheon would work though because there aren't many figures in it.
