Very well done. 99% of gun reviewers on KZbin completely fail to show this level of accuracy of information. Love it and thank you.

One of the most accurate reviews I have seen. I have a 360PD and a P365 and my experience is identical to yours. Very different weapons but I am able to carry the 360PD in ways that I cannot with the P365. I use the Speer Gold Dot 135gr .357 rounds and it is very hard kicking in this revolver. Luckily, I was not compelled to "break in" the 360PD with 200+ rounds. FWIW, I have equipped both with green laser sights- really helps the 360PD with my old eyes. Lastly, I am resolved o firing double action with the 360PD as my single action trigger pull is too light to trust in a self defense situation- at least for the first round.

Best description I ever read using the Hornady 158 gr was “ it is like shaking hands with electricity”. It is my shorts and t shirt gun here in SoCal, incredibly light and with a heavy DA , I am not afraid to carry it unholstered stuck in my pocket. And at 15 yards with a lot of painful practice I feel pretty confident that with a good jolt of adrenaline it will shoot like my G43.

These are great little guns. Only downside to the 360PD is the hammer. I prefer no hammer to avoid snags, that's why I got a 340PD.

Why not get shrouded or even Bob it.. I like having the SA option
@PatrickPierceBateman
@PatrickPierceBateman 3 жыл бұрын
@@BOB-wx3fq A few reasons: 1. Legal reasons. If you have to shoot somebody in self-defense and you cock the hammer back on your gun first, that can destroy your whole "self-defense" case. Because a good lawyer will ask "If you had time to cock the hammer back, then how come you didn't have time to run?" Also cocking the hammer back shows you had time to think about what you were doing, which can hurt your case if you were claiming to be in fear for your life and acting on instinct. 2. If I ever need to fire from a pocket then an enclosed hammer is the best option. 3. With these little guns, anything I would be shooting at would theoretically be so close to me that I wouldn't need the improved accuracy that comes from being able to cock a hammer back.
@BOB-wx3fq
@BOB-wx3fq 3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickPierceBateman A, you don't tell them you cocked it and consciously took a moment to shoot, not to mention that would be the absolute least of my worries if for any reason I'm in a deadly shooting B. A shroud let's you shoot from the pocket C. It's just an extra feature, the 38 is equal to greater than the 42 I could see someone not liking the chiefs special for this reason

@@PatrickPierceBateman Obviously you are not a criminal defense attorney. If someone is running towards you with an ax, the prosecutor is not going to ask you why you had the time to cock your revolver. You win the dumbest remark on KZbin.
@PatrickPierceBateman
@PatrickPierceBateman Жыл бұрын
@@ArizonaAirspace You're very ignorant about the law and firearms. A prosecutor can easily make the case that you weren't truly in fear for your life if you had enough time to think to cock the hammer back. They can also make the case that the shooting was accidental due to the hair trigger effect you produce after cocking a DA revolver. And if you're in a state that doesn't have a "stand your ground law", you could be on the hook for manslaughter. Next time maybe do a little research before commenting.

I used .38 +P more than once during my career and it worked every time. I keep my 340PD loaded w/110 grain +P b/c accurate follow up shots are next to impossible, at least for an old guy like me.
@somethingsmith3242
@somethingsmith3242 6 жыл бұрын
Nice video, minus the hallow aluminum grinding sound. I prefer the 638 for several reasons. IMO, the .38 Special +p, or even the standard pressure .38 in a heavier round configuration is more than adequate for self defense situations. For me the follow shot setup outweighs the added energy of the .357 round. Stopping power is all about shot placement. All the power in the world does no good if the round doesn't hit the vitals. The lesser powered .38 Special with a heavier grain round will easily penetrate to the vitals and with much less felt recoil which should allow for more accurate followup shots, if required. JMO, again nice video and thanks for the review, enjoyed it.

I was told by S&W that the 120gr. -minimum holds for both .357 and .38 and that you should not go lower in any of these calibers. Where did you get the info that sub-120gr is fine with .38 rounds? In any case, thank you very much for the detailed in-depth video.

Man I want to get one of these before they disappear. I've owned a glock and older model 15 revolver for years, one is a brick, the other a boat anchor. Face it, hardly any of us will ever need 15rds, just one or two shots will certainly do the trick, 5 shots is plenty. Pistols are a pain in the ass to collect brass from if you reload, I prefer to stick with a revolver like this now to easily reload my brass.

For pocket carry, tha 360pd is my only carry. All of my auto loaders print too much for me compared to my j frames. Even my 380s, a P238 Sig and Ruger LCP print too much because of rectangular lines. store clerks have stared at my autoloaders in front pocket since I am small framed. But my jframes to my knowledge have gone un noticed.

A "good" 9mm in 3" barrel almost catches a weak 357mag in a snubnose, but not close to a good 357. To me the only downside to my 360pd is i don't want to suffer hearing loss from 357 if I needed to use it in a closed space. The upside is that being a 357, the 360PD is extremely durable and reliable for all 38s. So I am fine carrying 38+p. It is plenty effective enough. Yes, 9mm is better, but I'm good with 38

Good review, I happen to carry a G43 in a kydex pocket carry holster... It is a bit heavy, loaded it weighs something like 24oz (I think, going off memory). Including the kydex pocket holster along with 8 rounds total (loaded into standard mag, with the 'Mag Guts' +1 spring)... The 360 might become my new pocket carry, not that I'm getting rid of anything, but that light weight would be nice...

@ED-2.0.9.
@ED-2.0.9. 6 жыл бұрын
Loading approach. Technically a 6 round strip, but in the 5 round cylinder you can grip the thicker part of the strip and slide in two rounds at a time stripping them off twice, rotate the strip by "spinning" it (180°) in your fingertips with your thumb, and sink the the last one in stripping it off without fumbling around with the flimsy tab end to get it done. Some use the 7 round strips in a 2 skip 2 skip 1 config (I oft just use a 5 rounder as it'll fit in a jeans mini watch pocket with the tab just barely sticking out). Shoot safe!

My 340 PD says no less than 125 gr. Because of how much of the bullet is inside of the case. The smaller bullets will pull out of the case from the recoil. And won't let the cylinder finish revolving because the next bullet that pulls out hits the frame. It's all about how much bullet is crimped inside the case. It's happened to me. One should never shoot stuff like reloaded cases. We both love guns, I'm not trying to dog you!!!

Im built like Screech in Saved By The Bell ,I am 15 lbs lighter and a few inches taller and my shirts drape off my hip bone and belt buckle. Anyway, my point is I have no issues hiding a j frame in the pocket of my everyday pants. I have been carrying for years also, and can not hide anything in my beltline without my figure looking lopsided as Laverne's hooters 😂. I have p365 with a great holster. You are lucky you don't have a skinny bowling pin build ha. The grips I use on my 360pd are CT LG405, not for the laser, but for the air space cushion on the bachkstrap. Much more comfortable and makes 357 passable.

READ THE FOLLOWING: HOWEVER, I can find a stupid topic in it. It is almost as goofy as a gun caliber argument. He said," More fine motor skills are needed to load, unload, and fire a revolver as compared to a semi-automatic pistol. " Unloading my 627 is as simple as pouring a cup of water. Shells fall right out. Loading with a moon clip is exactly the same as putting in a magazine in most self-loaders and easier than some. Does my 8 round capacity compete with a 17 round 9mm? Wonderful bandwagon argument. Popularity is not a substitute for proof. If you assume that, then you have to look at the menu for 50,000 flies. Cowpie is not on my menu. Stop eating cowpie and start practicing with a revolver. It is not as cheap as shooting a .22LR LCP2 at the range, though, for sure. Yes. Most people use autoloaders because they were first trained with one, professionally. I was first trained with a S&W Model 10-5 and our EDC was a nyclad .38 Special. If you actually look at the SAAMI, you will find the rounds for .38 Special +P for a 158 grain [387 ft/lbs] compete with the 9mm +P for a 115 grain [372 ft/lbs]. Those are the top muzzle energy for their caliber with an approved pressure.

I’m glad you asked. The scandium frame is stronger, the entire pistol is lighter, and all of the pins are titanium rather than aluminum. The guns are more durable than the aluminum framed airweight j-frames. Personally, I don’t like the titanium cylinder models. I prefer a steel cylinder. After four years of use as an off-duty carry gun, on-duty backup gun, and a lot of shooting, my 641-1’s hammer pivot pin broke. I went out the next day and bought an M&P340.

Good review..the gun you will like to carry, isn't the one you will love at the range in my experience. My everyday carry is a 340PD, Over a decade of carry has taken me full circle back to a j frame. Every single semiauto I have owned has choked and I've owned and sold about 15 different handguns over the years.. I've even had a couple of Rohrbaughs trying to fill the pocket role, but in the end for light reliable defensive use in a 35caliber, the j frame rules. I like the 357 gold dot short barrel 135 gr rounds, they're just a notch above +p 38, not as brutal as full house magnums mind you, but still a little more stout than the +p. Check out Paul Harrels KZbin vid on snub 357 power, amazing! There's more than most think in the power dept in a 357 snub if you look at the chrono. I do get that most won't like the recoil, I actually tried Buffalo Bore 180 gr 357 out of my 340 and it will make a believer in one shot about there not being more power out of a short barrel with 357.

@@fate930.327 federal magnum out of a ruger lcrx is a better comparison. Also, every gun is still relevant in a fight. Only the sith deal in absolutes.

@@FL-Kaiman holy late reply Batman , also who in the lords name still shoots 327 aside from the geriatrics revolver club? Ditched my J frames shortly after this review came out because of how good the P365 is TBH

You are getting nowhere near the energy from a 38 anything as you are a full house 357 magnum.

If you want to shoot 357 out of that light weight frame, be my guest. I'll stick with my 38+p rounds.
