Hi Hickok45, The trigger freeze is due to the disconnector bar being a very roughly made part that is flat. The faulty disconnector is silver and has a very rough cut finish. They have revised this with a disconnector bar that is bowed, a smoother edge finish, and a black (possibly some type of Teflon coating?). This fixes the "stuck trigger" or "trigger freeze" issue. As for the bump that isnt the reset, that is due to the firing pin block pushing up against the disconnector. This means that the tolerance between the firing pin block location, angle, and spring pressure- does not match well with the disconnector bar. They can probably fix it with a redesigned firing pin block, or changing the engagement angle of the disconnector bar. The trigger lockup is due to the original silver disconnector bar getting STUCK under the slide, so they bowed the new part to prevent the disconnector bar from "wiggling" towards the center of the firearm, causing it to jam under the slide.

I read someplace that the firing pin plunger had something to do with it. I called Smith and tried to buy a new plunger and they told me to send in the gun for their inspection. Any idea what date yours was made on. Maybe that was corrected at some time after some date of mfg.I have one and would like to fix the problem. I did not see this before I bought mine. I like it other than the trigger situation. Thanks To H45 for another great honest video.

I am the proud owner of a new CSX. Initially, I had the same problem as you with the trigger. However, after about 500 rounds and 200 or 300 dry fires, the issue has completely disappeared. Not only has the false reset disappeared, but the trigger weight has gone for about 6 lbs out of the box, to 4.25 - 4.5 lbs on my scale. It’s just a break-in issue. Thank you for all that you do for us. You are amazing!
@hickok452 жыл бұрын
Could be. This one has gotten better, as I experienced in the video. It still has that false reset, though. The part that seems to have gone away is that now I don't have to take my finger completely off the trigger in order to get it to reset. Also, early on, if I was tricked by the first false reset and tried to fire it, it created a situation where even if I totally released the trigger it would not fire. I had to recock the hammer or rack the slide again to get it to shoot, even though the hammer was still cocked. That seems to have gone away. I shoot it again yesterday, and I'm going to put some more rounds though it. We'll hang onto it awhile and do a follow-up Chapter 2 video.

Good to know. Just got mine yesterday as a Valentines gift from hubby. Got to shoot one at our range and had no problems. But, I'm pretty new to shooting and didn't notice it. Do you think it's because I'm not as sensitive to the triggers? Or did I make a mistake in buying it?

I went deep into the internals of my CSX and polished all parts that rub together to smooth it out without shooting hundreds of rounds. After careful inspection, I determined the so called "false reset" although there, was a result of what I will call the safety bar coming off the firing pin stop plunger (similar to the one found in a Glock). The bar snaps off the plunger and that manifests itself as a reset before the actual reset which happens when the trigger bar goes forward of the sear as the trigger is released. I blocked the firing pin stop plunger in the depressed position which is the operational position it takes when the trigger is pulled rearward. This took the plunger completely out of the operational picture, put the slide back on and tested for the false reset. It was completely gone. The spring under the plunger is quite robust which I think leads to the false reset feel as the safety bar that depressed the plunger in the first place slides off of it during normal reset. Polishing components did help, but minor altering of the plunger did the most good. The false reset is mostly gone and the firing pin safety feature still does its job by not letting the firing pin go forward unless the trigger is pulled.

I picked up one of these yesterday and ran close to 200 rounds through it today. I have seen several videos where folks had issues with the mags being hard to load, swelling and not dropping free and a lot of false resets on the trigger. I had no issues whatsoever with mine. Mags loaded easily and inserted without a sharp blow and there were no false resets even with rapid fire. It may be that since it has been out for a year the quality control is better, the internals may receive a little polishing from the factory, and the magazine followers are being installed correctly. The most important things are accuracy was very good and I experienced no failures of any kind. I will feel very comfortable using this for my EDC gun. It weighs about half of one of my 1911's and has a higher capacity. What's not to like?

So you felt the false reset in the beginning? What do you like about it better than the G 43
@FortyHyena2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think the only reason I noticed it was because I saw youtube videos talking about it and making a big deal about it. When I got mine and and shot it, it honestly didn't affect my shooting in the least bit. And as I said, after a couple hundred rounds, the 'false reset' is completely gone. As far as what I like about it more than my Glock 43? And don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Glocks, I own several Glocks and I love them them and pretty mich always recommend a Glock to a first time handgun buyer. But, I like the CSX trigger more than my Glock 43. It feels better, breaks better, no sponge, which is obvious when comparing a hammer fired SAO to a striker fired pistol. The CSX is also slightly smaller or damn nearly equal size to the 43, but carries twice the capacity. Now I know that the average number of shots fired in a defensive shooting event is only 3 rounds, but if you can carry more in the same size package, why not? I know that it is highly subjective, but I feel like the CSX is softer shooting and snaps far less than my 43 as well and I can make faster follow up shots, again, that is subjective. I know that some popular KZbinrs have had complaints about the CSX, but so far, I LOVE mine and I would tell folks to actually shoot one themselves so they can form their own opinion on it.

@@philrichjr The CSX is smaller, lighter, and has a FAR nicer trigger than the G3C I shot. I would not even remotely think of carrying a G3C instead of my CSX. Ever.

From my point of view and my experience, it is a very reliable pistol, they have wanted to give it a bad name because of its trigger, do not pay attention to them, a very good pistol

I always liked the 1911 especially the way the trigger sits flush with the grip.I have a small Sig 9mm with the lever trigger that sits in the middle of the trigger guard , horrible trigger creep sponginess. This little guy might be my next purchase.

I REALLY enjoy your channel sir. I am looking to purchase the CSX... however, in all honesty, I was NOT trained many years ago to hold my finger on that trigger for the reset. Of course I was brought up with the Colt 1911, 45... I do own a S&W Sheild in the .40 caliber and I LOVE it... so I tend to shoot by taking my finger SLIGHTLY off the trigger. I am going to shoot this pistol at my local gun range by renting it first and see how it goes. Thank you as always for your very informative videos. Take care sir. Steve in Colorado

1911 the trigger slides as one straight back, the csx looks like a 1911 trigger but pivots like a conventional trigger, it has a little bit of play due to the linkage around the mag, and the false reset can catch yea, but all in all a great gun
@bobdegutis3022 жыл бұрын
I think you got it, I think what ppl are calling false reset is the trigger bar coming off the plunger safety. It makes a little noise and you can feel it.
@chrisbenson19652 жыл бұрын
Rented a csx yesterday along with a p365 and the hellcat. Brought with my p238 and my 43x to compare all together. The csx trigger is absolutely horrendous. I can't believe they would release such product. The p365 followed us home.

The trigger issue reminded me how I had to get accustomed to the DOA trigger reset on the SCCY CPX-3 pistol.

As far as the full mags are difficult to insert, if you first rack the slide open and then use the slide stop, you can then easily insert either mag. Of course, doing so might be a reason to use the thumb safety.

I’ve been very happy with my Smiths either revolver or auto loader on or off duty for almost 40 years. Is this sort of a “9 EZ” (akin to my 380 Ez)? Looks very light to rack. I do note the metal frame and Faux 1911 features. Interesting weapon.
@kuuryotwo51532 жыл бұрын
It is very 1911-like. Similar sear and hammer, half a 1911 trigger bow. I like the little fella. Haven't held an EZ model to compare it to.

Interesting. I've not had this issue with the EZ models, but I DO have a problem getting the grip safety squeezed sufficiently sometimes due to my large hands.
@micronious57472 жыл бұрын
I’ve had to send my 9 mm EZ Performance Center back bcs of the grip safety. If I don’t get it just so…and no other of my guns with grip safeties gives me this problem…it won’t fire. Apparently I don’t have enough flesh in the web of my hand to hold it tight enough, I don’t know. Got to wiggle it around. Not sure I’ll keep it…though my regular 380 EZ is awesome.

@kuuryotwo51532 жыл бұрын
I'm going to say it depends on when you reset the trigger as to whether or not you feel that false reset. If you release the trigger during recoil, you won't feel it because the trigger disconnector is pulled downward by the slide so the trigger bow is completely away from the sear. If you release it after recoil when the slide is forward, you will feel it because the top corner at the heel of the trigger bow sort of 'clicks' against the bottom toe of the sear - but the trigger bow hasn't quite come around and slid back up to engage the sear until the second more pronounced click. I think* these two parts will wear together over time, or a competent smith should probably be able to polish and round the 2 edges so they slide more smoothly without any false clicks.

Sir, I waited 2 years to buy the CSX hoping Smith would fix the trigger. I bought one on 9/7/24 and mine does not have the false reset. My CSX had a 4.5lb trigger when new and is right at about 4 lbs now. You might take another look at the CSX. I really like mine and am glad I waited to buy one.
