Smithsonian Mass Digitization: National Museum of Natural History, Freshwater Mussels Collection

We're currently collaborating with the Invertebrate Zoology Deparment at the National Museum of Natural History to digitize over 45,000 specimens in their historic collection of freshwater mussels. Over 120,000 images total will be added to the Smithsonian's digital collections. Learn more about the role these at-risk animals play in waterways and how digitization supports mapping species distribution over time.
