That sauce looks delicious! I wish the rest of my family liked horseradish!!! I’ll have to make this sometime.
@PostalBarbecue2 жыл бұрын
it's super tasty! You could always mix up sauce with no horseradish then add to taste on yours. The sauce isn't to over the top with horseradish flavour because of the garlic and hotsauce which helps balance out all the flavours.

If you ask your butcher they can likely bring it in for you. OR like in my area they usually don’t put out the full tri tip but rather they cut them into steaks. This in I asked for the full. Worth asking for sure.

Made these tonight! I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time. They turned out amazing. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Note to self, use the salt less rub 🤦🏼♂️. The meat alone a bit salty but on the sandwich, it was perfect.

Looks good, awesome sandwich! Doesn't that Camp Chef have a side attachment for searing?
@PostalBarbecue2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man.. Yeah this one does but it doesn't come standard so I wanted to show how to cook this using the default sear zone - it's not as powerful as other grills but still gets the job done.

Ah, she's a Beauty! Tri-Tip has become my favorite over the last few years (I used to be a Porterhouse or bone-in Ribeye guy). Surprising that I can still get TT at the local Butcher for 8.99 to 9.99/lb (at least I could 2 months ago) here in Okla. And freakin' ground beef is 6.50 to 7.00/lb. Very nicely done. The sauce looks excellent too, love the pickle juice
@PostalBarbecue2 жыл бұрын
Yeah its nice that Tri Tip still is a bit more cost affective then some of the other cuts. It's one of my favs for sure.. I actually almost did a porterhouse for this cook - Maybe I should put it back on the list? What's your porterhouse pro tip?

@@bradcampbell624 that’s always a great idea. Front sear, reverse sear? My buddy Ricer (dead broke bbq) and I just had a lengthy conversation about cooking Tbones and porterhouse steaks and how they are a lot more challenging simply because of the center bone acting almost like a wick.
@bradcampbell6242 жыл бұрын
I prefer the reverse sear on the ol' Weber. I usually throw a chunk of mesquite on the coals when doing beef, and I think the meat soaks up the flavor more than with the front sear. Dang, now I have Porterhouse on my mind. Time to visit the butcher....

Great video. Recipes aside, a video on how you keep your grill so damn clean would be great, too! :)
@PostalBarbecue2 жыл бұрын
Haha... I think because i'm often filming it means the grills are frequently getting a little extra care then most peoples would get.. Before each shoot the grill gets a bit of a clean and wipe down. For this video I actually took the insides out and cleaned it, vacuumed out some of the ash and made it look all nice. That said, I forgot to wipe the front of the lid and I think you can see slug trails on it. haha. Cheers bud, thanks for watching.

unpopular but true opinion - tri tip is best cooked on over a fire FAST. its how it was meant to be cooked. smoking a cut like this draws out the classic "santa maria" tri tip flavor that is not meant to be cooked at this rate. would you smoke a ribeye? its somewhat of the same logic
@kennybaumann21172 жыл бұрын
I smoke and reverse sear ribeyes all the time. I put them on cold and let them gradually come up to temperature while basking in smokey wonderfulness then searing over a roaring fire to put a nice crust on the outside. Just like this Tri tip it will be perfectly cooked from top to bottom and side to side. Try it sometime you will be amazed at how much flavor you get over doing them hot and fast.
@PostalBarbecue2 жыл бұрын
As Kenny mentioned doing this way imparts some wonderful flavours you get a bit more smokiness while then searing it at the end hot and fast delivering a perfect wall to wall medium rare. If you take a look a few weeks back you'll see this same method done with a thick cut ribeye - honestly it's some of the best steaks i've had in my life when done reverse sear with an added kiss of smoke.. If you haven't done it this way try them both side by side and see what you prefer because end of the day everyone has there own taste preference and that's perfectly fine. It's what makes cooking fun :) Cheers bud, appreciate you watching.. Also, I'm going to try find myself a Santa Maria grill and when I do I'll make a video with it for you ;)
@jasong.52792 жыл бұрын
Yes..I would smoke a ribeye very low heat for some time then hit it high heat on cast iron over a fire.
