Don't worry it's 6/0 Danville. That is the best line in all of your videos. Made me laugh. Great job as always and I believe that pattern will catch some nice fish here in New Mexico too. But I will have to let you know

Couldn't help but to notice difference between European and American CDC. Your fibers look thicker and curvy. Anyway, great videos (narration, explanations, choice of patterns...everything) watched every upload till now and will! Please keep up with your great work. Greets from Bosnian chalk streams!

Is there anything that 6/0 danville will not fix? I have to get some of that CDC puffs on my tying bench!

I love these videos but what i think you should do is have more patterns for saltwater or warmwater flies. I think I speek for a lot of people who cant reach trout waters and can only fish in warmwater lakes or the ocean. You explain the flies well and would do well showing people how to tie bigger flies.

Fantastic! I finally know how to consistently get the peacock herl to stand at attention. Thanks for sharing Matt. And to whomever narrates these video's thanks for the heads up I might never have observed it if you hadn't said it. One question, do you sell supplies for fly tying? I have often looked for a fly shop with the same name. Found one not sure it is you though because you always mention NJ and it doesn't look like NJ and I have never heard them mention it. All the best to you, you sure make great video. Sean

We don't sell fly tying materials. Shannon's Fly and Tackle is my local shop and they do have an online store. Tight Lines Fly Fishing although no relation to my company, Tightline Productions, is also located in NJ and has an online store too.

Tied a couple on size 18 and 20 even used olive thread with a black thread rib. Will not float. CDC puffs from Orvis so I know they are at least decent. Hooks are Orvis emerger hooks. Did not trim puffs except to length and that a little long. Any hints?

Did you try fishing them? On the stream with moving water and a length of tippet holding them up, they float much better than say dropped in a glass of water as a test. Also, these flies are intended to just hang in the film and not really float high and dry. Other than that, maybe try tying it with two CDC puffs rather than one. Hope this helps.

tightlinevideo Thanks Tim, never thought of tipper helping to float it but it make sense, no fishing, the Driftless, like all drive ins this time of year, is closed for the season. Loved the interview on The Orvis Podcast. Any chance of you and Tom doing a video?

Aww yes I have been waiting for this since you teased us with releasing matt groberts deep dark peacock herl secrets at a later date. Ever since that video me and my fellow tyer have teased each other about knowing matts deep dark peacock herl secrets. And now I finally know them hehe. Both of us can credit almost all of our fly tying knowledge to your videos. They are much appreciated:) any real difference between this and the mole fly? I like the looks of this one a bit more. Anyways great video.

Glad you like the videos. I really like fishing emergers that are meant to ride in the film like the Smoke Jumper and the Mole Fly. To me, there is enough difference between the two to carry both.

can you use marabou for the wing
@tightlinevideo9 жыл бұрын
Unlike CDC, marabou will not float. You can use it, the look will be about the same, but the fly will not float in the surface film the way it is intended.
@chrisp65979 жыл бұрын
thanks i just tried it with marabou and it sank so ill be buying some cdc soon what color would be best for baetis
@tightlinevideo9 жыл бұрын
Chris P Not sure it matters that much but light gray or light blue dun would look nice.
