Some of the rugged phones under water have better audio fedality than Timmy. Love the old flip concept for a camera. I am a sucker for a gimmick or something odd. Torque cruhes Timmy.

The QR Code reads '20141103'. Judging by the '2014', it probably is the manufacturing date of the battery or the phone itself. Kinda weird how they went to the effort of creating a QR Code just for the date instead of actually printing the date itself. Oh, and the retail price for the Timmy M9 was, supposedly, 130 american bucks.

Would love to see the Honeycomb review! Really want to know about accessibility services available in said OS as ICS introduced Explore By Touch functionality and would love to know if any improvements were made between Gingerbread and ICS.

It still looks really good today! But it’s hella laggy, and the battery life is terrible now lol. I have one! But the camera mechanism has held up well on mine, at least.

I have an M7 one of these. Its identical inside with that horrible sim slot but the swivly camera has a bigger speaker grill and is only 5mp. Its also got malware baked into the rom (the SMS and dialer apps are trying to connect to servers in China and have ALL the permissions, Avast flagged up this unpleasantness very quickly. Apart from M7 it has no branding anywhere, which is odd. Its running the same android 4.4.2 as the M9 but cant be rooted with any tools I could find (probably to stop the removal of said malware).

I had the M9, i can confirm that the virus was also there. Later i flashed a fw from 2015 and the virus was removed. Another thing: my unit had the root....out of box..

I actually had a similar phone back in the day, except it ran on an MT6572 with just 512MB of RAM. It's called the X-BO V5 but it was also sold under various (counterfeit) brands like Oppo and Sony. I made a short video of it on my channel.

Try Open Camera in your reviews, it might solve the issues you were having with the stock app. It can access the full camera hardware/features.

I am not too sure if there is a hidden application on this which changes the bootup/shutdown animations of this phone like in many other phones that you reviewed (because of the fact that on the system files there are many unused boot animations and stuff)

My prior comment got nuked by the automod and I don't feel like retyping it. The short version: Google made a movie editor for Android 3 called "Movie Studio". It survived in stock Android until Android 4.3. 4.4 Kit-Kat phones weren't supposed to have it. My Moto E1 didn't have it. That said; I could see some manufacturers who maybe weren't quite so tightly enmeshed with Google including the Jellybean version because why not? Or, perhaps, MediaTek made their own video editing software to replace Google's, which they offered as part of their own app suite to companies that use their chips? Everything I owned back then that ran Kit-Kat had a Snapdragon SoC, so I don't know.

Back then I filmed with an S7 Edge with the LED flash on. Now I have a couple of studio lights and film with a Panasonic FZ10002 with a mic attached to it. So yeah definitely changed a lot and I also like the videos being a bit darker for a more chill atmosphere rather than all bright and stuff.

Fun fact, this has almost identical specs to the Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo, bar the flippy camera of course! Yes, it is just as bad as this phone, but it does make a damn good wifi hotspot-

For some reason it seems that the M9 doesn't support 4G yet the Vodafone does? Might just be a software limitation, since they use the same SoC and therefore same radio i assume?

The Vodafone Smart Turbo 4 has a Snapdragon 400 in it which supports 4G whereas this is a low end dual core Mediatek.

@@SMOOREZ Strange, i have devcheck open on it now and it reports a MediaTek MT6582, exact model is a Vodafone 985N which might be a regional variant? Could be wrong here!

The 6582 doesn't have LTE. Best way to check is to rip it apart and see :)

If you want a good review. get the Samsung Intercept phone. SPH-M910 model one. it was mostly sold thou Virgon mobile and sprint. it was the phone that was heavy promo in the US was the killer top of the line phone but it was DOA when you got it. it needed more then a prayer.

"why does it say 64?" 64_8 is probably 64GBit+8GBit / 8+1GB - memory chips are often described in datasheets in mega/gigabits

Yeah I spliced in a note at the last minute where I figured it out. I've only seen them described in megabits for the most part. I honestly don't think I had seen anything listed as gigabit but I have a terrible memory of what I've looked at.
