To all the people saying they don't look like they want to be there, I play the cello, and I don't smile. Why? Because I'm too busy focusing on the notes and how I move my fingers, you can't really expect them to look at the crowd and smile while playing their instruments, they'll lose focus!
@ceryxos7327 жыл бұрын
Gracie Davis Preach, sister, preach! I play cello as well and I purse my lips just the slightest when playing because I'm focusing. Not everyone can pull a Taylor Davis and smile into the camera while they play!

joopsandgoops exactly. Because you can’t focus on the emotion when you’re trying to play a really hard piece. As a cello player, it’s really hard to try to focus on the hand position, the bowing and getting the notes right. Much less trying to show facial expression.

LanaLucija - I see what you're saying about there being a lack of passion and emotion on their part and I agree. I was looking at it more from a tribute perspective if that makes sense lol. Like the fact that people are still honoring MJ in their own way is probably what would make him cry. Like "people still care about me even after all the lies and b.s. that's been said over the years" ... okay their performance might not have made him cry lol (but then again we don't know, he was a very sensitive man), but I know it would have humbled him (even though he was always humble)... but I see what you're saying performance wise.
@russvanderlinden51699 жыл бұрын
LanaLucija When critiquing someone, you want to build them up with helpful suggestions on how to improve, not tear them down publicly in the manner in which you have. Wisdom and knowledge to learn how to help and teach comes with years, Lana, and since you are 13, I see you have a lot more learning to do in that area. Those four young ladies did a fantastic job in performing in front of an audience! They conducted themselves professionally, and played their best for them. They made some mistakes that you caught. Point them out kindly so that they can correct them and they can perform better the next time. If you are that much better, be a mentor, not a critic. There are enough critics in the world. I am close to 60 years old, be patient, be kind, it goes a lot further than arrogance.

I miss my orchestra class. We all had to be tested by a woman seperately in a secluded room, on a chosen song of our own and she would rate us. When she got to me she stood and clapped for me. I never thought she would even like what I played especially since it was just a small piece and because I taught myself to play with only 3 strings since my 4th popped off. Or rather my E string. I played the notes from my E string on my A string. She still gave me a standing ovation. It shocked me, I blushed out of embarrassment which is something I hate doing in public and when we got our reports back the next day I got a golden paper saying I made superior +! And it turned out that I was the only one who made superior plus for my beautiful tone, and quality, and how my gesture was while playing and at the bottom she added how she was astonished to see me perform using only 3 strings. I have never had any other great award given since because my 6-8 years of playing ended abruptly.. But it was an amazing moment for me. Especially since I never saw myself as a skilled type. But these young ladies did a wonderful job..

people talk about them being robotic and i don’t know but they don’t sound like they know how difficult it is to play an instrument sometimes. of course it can depend on the piece but i’d rather look at my hands to remember where i’m at in the music or to make sure i stay on tempo.
@icyglyce43124 жыл бұрын
If there is a person in these comments saying that they look robotic then I'll tell you why. They have to focus on where they're fingers are going, they can't look into the puplic and smile they can't focus then. I play violin so I know what it's like playing an instrument
@decentmeal2954 жыл бұрын
I personally play the cello and I can agree with you. Although I really don’t look at my intonation all that often as you are supposed to be focusing on the music it looks like they are looking at their bow direction and styles.

From what I see most of the time they’re staring at the ground. They don’t have any sheet music either. I play the cello, and I’ve memorized all the positions for the fingers, so I’m able to move and look into the crowd every few times. They seem like they have enough experience to do that. In the case of an orchestra I can look up at the conductor while moving and looking at the music.

Is it weird that I imagining a Wildebeest running across the wildlands and a lion chasing after them to this? One of the Wildibeest is singing "Annie Are You Okay?" to the one that is falling and the lion is creeping up on them. It gets more tense as the song progresses but the lion eventually eats it. Don't even ask where my imagination got that from. Aside from that, this is a great cover.

To all of the people who say that they look like they don't want to be there, I have played the violin for about 6 or 7 years and never in my time did I smile and pay attention to the music at the same time unless I could play the music while I was sleeping.
